I have the cds that Keval mentioned below. I am also part of the

Karunamayi list in which many of these topics are discussed. Although I

consider Ammachi my guru, i also consider Amma Karunamayi and Shree Maa

of Kamakya as my Divine Mothers. Because AmmaK sanctions our doing the

Khadgamala Stotram (and Namavali) and teaches it, I consider it

appropriate to do it though I have not been personally initiated into

it. She acknowledges that it is usually given through diksha, but she

teaches her devotees for their benefit and for the peace and welfare of

the world. Also, she says that when she teaches (even to a large group),

it is an initiation. Even if you haven't "officially" learned something

from her during a program or retreat, you can certainly still learn it

from the tape or CD, with the help of the booklet. I understand that

when she authorizes a chanting booklet and makes a learning CD, she

intends for everyone to be able to learn the chant, not just those who

learn it during a program or retreat. If you are interested, i would

encourage you to get the cd. Her chanting and singing is extremely

beautiful in addition to her teaching the pronunciation. In addition,

Swami Satyananda Saraswati (of the Devi Mandir and Shree Maa) says that

"everyone has an equal right to pray to God." This is good enough for

me. (I have written to one of AmmaK's devotees to see if I might post

what she said about this subject. If she gives permission, I will

followup).

 

I intend to take Amma Karunamayi's darshan when she comes to Arizona in

April, especially since I live here. I will be seeing her even before

our beloved Ammachi. I have never taken any saint's darshan before so I

am excited. But I can't wait to see our beloved Amma for the very first

time when she returns to L.A.!
