I usually saw him either meditating for long times while Amma is hugging or buying fruit. for us, fruitarian diet alone would not work at present; we need lots of fresh GREENS. at amma's 50th, SHE did ask the youth of india to devote at least one hour/day for farming. i was disappointed that amma did not specifically emphasise GREENS farming. and it is perhaps becoming obvious that amma's brahmacharis( working 18 hours/day ) live on amma's shakti rather than nutritional needs of the westerners. just sharing ~ don't take any of this too seriously. jai amma, amarnath ps ~ any specific inquiries please do offline ~ i don't sell anything but there are two brilliant MD's with good hearts I can recommend if anyone is interested in their vegetarian diets. Guest guest
I find raw foods very difficult to digest. The trick is to chew them well so the enzymes in the saliva can work. I have also tried processors like Vita Mix or K-Tec. They pulverize the food and the fiber and the digestion is easier. But I find that you still need to chew it after mixing with either rice or other vegetables. If you drink the pulverized mixture, then the enzymes in the stomach (which are different from those in the mouth) cannot fully digest it. Wonder if any one has any experiences with raw foods. Labd ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~reply below : namaste labd, ( sorry the last post was incomplete ~ i hit the wrong key ) ~ hope the following helps ~ over the last five years we have increased from 50% raw to about 80% normally we eat more raw( live ) fruits and vegetables during the summer any change of diet will take some time to adjust we are vegan with focus on GREEN VEGETABLES a huge salad is our main meal food processor with a shredding blade is a good aid some nutritionists recommend chewing your food well ( anywhere from 30 to 70 times ) ~ do the best you can hopefully with good teeth ~ make it a meditation ~ imagine offering the food to amma or poor hungry people somethings that aid digestion ~ pineapple, papaya, apples, raisins, kiwi fruit, lemon, berries, oranges, fresh ginger sauce, fresh ginger tea, cold slaws( with shredded cabbage plus shredded other veggies ), soy milk yogart or kefir, coconut water and/or coconut milk kefir, probiotics( acidophilus, etc ), home made sour kraut for proper food combining you should be able to find some free info at http://www.fredericpatenaude.com/ for more info check out Dr. Gabriel Cousens, MD one of the pioneers on raw vegan diet and a spiritual practitioner one good way to start is with Dr. Fuhrman's (50% raw/50% cooked) plant based diet ~ www.drfuhrman.com ~ excellent video for intro after transitioning and adjusting, i now find that many of the veggies and fruit that i thought gave me digestion problems do not; now i can eat raw many veggies that i thought before had to be cooked; in my case i have digestion problems with grains, beans, dairy and too many nuts; i cut out dairy completely reduced grains and beans/lentils to a minimum and use nuts conservatively hope this helps amma's blessings, amarnath may all beings everywhere be happy, peaceful and free from malnutrition
Guest guest
Namah Shivaya In it is not good to eat too much raw foods - hard on digestion. Vegetables should be at least partially cooked. Then there are the raw foodests who say food should be eaten raw. Whatever works! But don't forget your veggies! labd2929 wrote: > I find raw foods very difficult to digest.
