GeorgeSon posted this quote from Amma:

"Wherever we go, we find faults

and defects in others. Our mind

becomes restless because of this

habit; we must change it. Forgetting

- the shortcomings of others, we

should look for the good qualities

in them and respect them. This is

what we need to do. Always see only

the good side of everyone; then your

sorrow will come to an end.

Suppose we fall into a hole. Do

we poke our eyes out because they

did not guide us properly? Just as

we endure the defects of our eyes,

we should put up with others'

shortcomings and be kind to them."

Dear GeorgeSon ~ Wow! This smacked me right upside the head. I am the first

person to poke a hole in my eye if I trip over something ... really not a good

idea. I believe, though Amma sometimes gives "tough love," She wants us to

notice our flaws, warts or whatever name we would give to those qualities in

ourselves that trouble us. Often these are the same flaws and warts that

bother us in other people. They are being of service as a mirror.

Also, argh, this spoke volumes to that issue about which I am not speaking.

: )

I am going to print this out and put in on my fridge, so I can read it at

least once a day ... or more. Ahhhhhh .... :::sigh::: sometimes we are hard on

other people, even if only in our thoughts, but sometimes, we are even harder

on ourselves. One year my New Year's resolution was to Lighten Up! I'm still

working on that one. Jai Ma ~ Linda
