(Thank you Gurus!) Dear Pahari Maa, I loved your description of your pujas. Doug and I are so determined that, within the next year we will get out of the trailer, and I will have a place for my altar and my practice again, and a studio. Initially, it was fun, living like a gypsy. But my health problems make the trailer not a really good option as a living space. You are higher than we are, we're a little over 5,000. Pinos Altos, which is just outside of the Gila National Forest is 6,000 ft. The beauty, even between these two elevations, in terms of the plant life, trees, animals, etc. is unique and different. You are on the coast, or close to it, and so that gives your area a unique beauty. You painted such a beautiful picture of it. It's interesting that beautiful places attract people who, like you indicate, have similar interests. Although even though this is the southwest, it is also considered western, and there is a great western tradition that says, if it's there, use it. Plow it, cut it down, put a dam through it, or build houses on every square inch. Someday there will be more people who are willing to embrace simplicity so that everyone can simply live (as the old hippy saying goes). Guest guest
Hi Linda, Interesting about our elevations and abodes. I live in a single wide mobile home (trailer) at 6,200 ft elevation and I work in Idyllwild which is at 5,400 ft elevation. There is a lot of variety in plant life, trees and types and arrangements of boulders. I love it! The boulders look like someone just dropped them out of the sky and scattered them around the landscape. I feel that this area has had some kind of divine protection. Maybe because in addition to the usual Catholic, Presbyterian, Bible Churches and Church of Religious Science, there are two Zen monasteries and a Tibetan Buddhist Temple. Not to mention a fair number of people (assorted Hindus) who practice their sadhana in a solitary way. At any rate, building has been kept to a minimum, there is no plowing or any dams. Our water is cold and pure and comes directly from springs. Wonderful! I am so blessed to be here. Thank you Gurus!
