Guest guest
Dear Ones, Last year around Thanksgiving I shared selections from the first letter I received on that November's Devi Bhava day from Michael C. Moore. At that time Michael was in Winnebago County Jail. His first letter expressed such a strong faith in Amma and clear belief that she was God, that it lifted me up. It gave me the vision for what Circle of Love Inside could do. Since then, Michael has been moved to a state prison in Illinois near the Missouri border. He's actually not too far from a Hindu Temple, interestingly enough. For some time, copying what he sees the Moslem prisoner do in memorizing the Koran, Michael has memorized selections from books about Amma and from Amma's statements. His faith in Amma has continued. Also, he has become attracted to Krishna. He quoted for me in one letter that Amma said that few people realize that she is one with Krishna. (Of course, she has also said that she is one with all the forms of God we humans appreciate.) Vedic astrology says that our ishta devata, the way we love to think about God when we are born. Perhaps Krishna is Michael's ishta devata. On Christmas day I was replying to Michael's letter written December 20, 2005. That's unusual. Up until this one, Michael has never put a date on his his letters. In the file I write on the top of them "postmarked" with the date from the envelope. I thought that what he wrote would inspire you. He has given me written permission to share his letters. He writes, "Sister, every day I see how God is working in my life. He is molding me into what he wants, and that is what I pray for. I ask God to lead me in the direction he wants me to walk, and to give me what I need. See, I know I need God. That is all I know. Everything else in the past that I thought I needed, I didn't need. The things that I thought I needed only got me in trouble all my life until God showed me, and is still showing me, that he is all I need. I understand what giving it all up to God means now. It means you stop trying to take control of your life and let Him control your life. When you surrender to God life is much easier to go through. I realize that God has his hand on my life and that he wants to use me in a very good way. I beleive that God has allowed me to experience the things that I have because God is going to use me to help those who been through those same things that Ive been through. ...Those that people think won't and can't change, God works on. Look at Malcolm X and Paul that is in the Holy Bible. I end with Amma love. Love always." Due to Michael's faith, there are now about eighty members of the Circle of Love inside. There are around 40 letter writers and 50 brothers and sisters who are incarcerated. All but one of the letter writres is an Amma devotee. The one other is a Catholic chaplain who also does prison visits with me. Ten percent of the inmates are Amma devotees. Monday, January 2, 2006 I will meet with a group of people form East Bay Church of Religious Science who want to have a prison ministry for their church. They can support Circle of Love Inside by letter writing and Amma devotees can work with them on prison programs in institutions in the San Francisco Bay Area. Jesus said to his disciples, after they failed to heal a boy with seizures, "If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain 'Move,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for yo
