Guest guest
Honoring Silence ~ Honoring Amma What is Silence? If not sure, let us sit comfortably and close our eyes for a few minutes. What is our experience? Answer: thoughts and silence. The thoughts are our mind which Amma says is a big lie. Yet we have been honoring the lie and even believing it to be our identity. It is further said that the entire creation is nothing but a projection of the mind. And the silence( which we ignore )? Silence is just another name( a very simple humble name ) for God, for Truth, for our true identity, for Amma. "You cannot even call the silent Inner Mother `Mother,' because `Mother' is a name, and there are no names or forms in the `Mind of minds' where the Inner Mother is. That Inner Mother is completely detached; She has no likes or dislikes. Neither excitement nor worry exists for that Mother. She doesn't sleep or eat; She doesn't love nor hate anyone. She simply is. Whatever is expressed through this body is for you, for your spiritual growth. Without the body you cannot even get a glimpse of the Inner Mother. The fact is this external Mother does not exist as you think you are seeing Her. That Inner Mother alone exists. That Inner Mother is still, silent changeless, immovable..." - Ammachi, Awaken Children, Vol.4 p223 (0209) The message this child of Amma is getting is to honor Silence( Truth ) in every moment of life and to observe thoughts/activity in the clarity of Silence without judgment. Why wait to honor God as Silence only during meditation( which we should do ) when Silence/God/Amma is ever present even in the midst of thoughts and dynamic activity. May these words Amma has given us be our reality now. The Inner Amma is Silence. The outer Amma( body of Amma ) is a manifestation of that Silence as Love which flows in a continuous stream from Silence to embrace our egos and dissolve them. Let us honor Silence and be dissolved in Amma's Love. Since above are words, please forgive what may be of the ego.
