Guest guest
Dear Linda, Angela and Amma's Children: Swami Ramakrishnananda (Amma's senior Disciple) said in Santa Fe in 1999. "The mind is usually compared to a monkey because the mind is so naughty and restless. Especially baby monkeys are very naughty. Imagine the naughtiest monkey, that is also drunk and gets stung by a scorpion! You can imagine how restless it would be! The mind is even worse than that. You can see it when you meditate. The best time to watch your mind is when you meditate. At other times we are not aware of what our mind is doing. As an experiment, try to sit for ten minutes in solitude with a notebook, and write down all that you think during those ten minutes. Write down those thoughts. You will see that they are totally unconnected and unrelated." I RECALL BIG SWAMI AT TWO DIFFERENT RETREATS INSTRUCTING US TO WRITE DOWN OUR THOUGHTS FOR TEN MINUTES. SWAMIJI INSTRUCTED THAT WE SHOULD WRITE THEM DOWN EXACTLY AS THEY OCCUR. NO EMBELLISHMENT or EDITING. WRITE THEM DOWN VERBATIM. BIG SWAMI SAID WE WILL SEE THAT THEY ARE THE WORDS OF A LUNATIC. ANYONE ELSE RECALL THIS RETREAT TALK INSTRUCTION? ANYONE TRY IT? I AM AFRAID TO TRY. With Love, GeorgeSon P.S. Here is the Swami Ramakrishnananda Satsang in Santa Fe. http://archives.amritapuri.org/matruvani/vol-00/feb00/00mv02ramakrishna.htm ________ DSL – Something to write home about. Guest guest
Namah Shivaya George, For quite a while I was writing in the morning as soon as I woke up, whatever was in my mind, for about 10 minutes. I wound up learning a lot! Not to mention slowly getting clear guidance in my dreams. I highly recommend it, especailly if you approach it as a spiritual practice and then when done offer it to Amma. Amma wants all of us, including our mental garbage. Angela.
