Dear Angela

Angela wrote from notes attributed

to the Michigan Satsang"

"The very nature of the mind is opposed to silence."

This is an axiom in Vedanta. A senior Swami (Maharaj)

of

the Ramakrishna Order of Monks said, "there is no

such thing as peace of mind or a peaceful mind.

The mind by its very nature cannot be peaceful"

I cannot seem to meditate for more than thirty seconds

without my "mind" (that rascal) butting in.

The Buddhists have a concept of "no-mind". I contend

that where there is a mind their is a monkey

with a pin in its foot on amphetamines.

The Monkey is the Monkey is the

Monkey....

Mind indicates turbulent vibrations. Diseases like

agitation of Mind need a mind surgeons.

A sadguru like Amma can pacify (or better

yet eliminate" the mind.

With Love,

GeorgeSon

Namah Shivaya George,

Re: the noisy nature of the mind.

This teaching really struck home with me. I have had the same

experience with mental chatter during meditation. I also wonder if I

may be attached to the noise, even though I know it drives me crazy!

I also feel that the mantra is such a great gift because it gives the

naughty drunken monkey something to focus his/her (?)energy on!

Namah Shivaya,

Angela.
