Dear GeorgeSon ~ Wow! What wonderful pictures, and I know that Amma must deeply trust the Clinton/Bush effort to have made Her contribution to them. I am still planning to make a contribution ... I know that much money flows in right after a tragedy, but I also know that the public has been taught by tv and other media to have a short attention span. So it is too easy to forget that it is not just during the aftermath of something like the tsunami or Katrina that people need help. The rebuilding goes on for years, maybe decades. I still have the $33 I raised during our art fair this summer, doing a jewelry making project with children, that I need to donate, but for some reason I have held off. I was originally going to make the donation to the Red Cross, but now I know why I waited. Amma has demonstrated the best place to give for this purpose. It is always good to "see" you on the list. I have not been able to read every digest lately. Partly, I am trying to use some of that time to do more devotional practice; partly I have gotten sideswiped by Christmas and lots of sad feelings about my family. C'est la vie. Today I go downtown to meet a friend for coffee and go over her "box" of stuff related to that art fair I mentioned. She and the other co-chair have resigned (and well, they did do it for 4 or 5 years), and the new co-chair, who doesn't yet have anyone to co-chair with her is shivering in her shoes. When the person I am meeting resigned as treasurer, she turned over her "treasurer" box to the new person, promising to meet with her and go over everything. Best laid plans, it never happened. Our new art fair co-chair is so sweet and loving, and I don't want her to be scared off before she gets started. So I am meeting with my friend today to go over "the box," so I will know and understand what is in it, and then I can meet with my other friend who is taking over the job. If I know what is supposed to happen and how and why, then she will not be alone. This is just a small thing, but in another way, it is a kind of seva Amma has given me through my art. (And if I had any doubts about that, seeing Akiane's website completely dispelled them.) Blessings for a wonderful New Year ~ Linda
