Dear Sweta ~ this may be something that needs to be run by Swami Dyamrita. I

seem to remember last year, something coming from Swami D. about this.

Perhaps Aikya would remember and know if this would be the way to proceed. I

would

love to help too. Because this is the first Christmas in her life that I

will not even see my daughter, I am not feeling very much in the holiday spirit.

I haven't even put our little tree up, though Doug ldid put our lights up

outside the trailer. I think participating in something like this would help

remind me what Christmas is really all about. Jai Ma ~ Linda

Dearest Sweta ~ I am so glad to read what you have written, and am so glad

Sw. Dayamrita is "in the loop." Amma is turning her devotees into social

workers. : ) Asking businesses for help is a great idea. There is a project

here in Silver City called the Rabbit Reunion. Plaster mold rabbits, donated or

purchased from a local ceramics business, are painted wonderfully by local

artists. I bought two this year.

When the project first started, I suggested one of the charities to be on

the list. It is called Casa Mia and is an equine therapy program. I benefited

from it myself while I still well enough to participate. How I miss it. But

there are 4 charities that now, all related to the needs of children, that

benefit from this wonderful fundraiser each year. In El Paso, there is a similar

project where the artists paint wooden hearts and they are silent auctioned

off (which is how the Rabbit one is handled). So ... thinking ahead, you might

also want to get in touch with somone in the local artist community and see

if they would be willing to head up or participate in a similar project.

In any case, please do email me off digest with the list of requested items

and where they should be sent. I will do what I can. Blessings ~ Linda

Pranams, dear sister, for your loving heart and actions.

Here our small group was blessed to be able to help support a holiday party

for single moms and kids in addition to our twice a month project at the

community meals program.

We also have the opportunity to serve holiday meals on Christmas Eve,

Christmas Day and New Years Day.

This helps us feel close to Amma and have an ³alternative holiday².

Thanks for telling us about MA Center¹s expanding involvement in local

charities.

Amma knew what She was doing when She directed us to ³Feed Her children²

some years ago.

It was a seed that seems to be growing.

So we were at least a little better prepared for Katrina and Rita relief

projects.

May these efforts continue to blossom as the need grows ever greater.

May more hearts open to the needs of others.

Greed leads to need.

Altruism leads to peace.

Jai Amma.
