Guest guest
For those of us outside the good ol' U.S. of A... what is meant by "Section 8" housing? OK, I get that it is some kind of subsidized housing program.. does it go back to the LBJ Great Society era of the 1960s? I always thought that "Section 8" had something to do with being discharged from the armed forces on grounds of mental illness or being psychologically unfit for service (think Cpl. Klinger in M*A*S*H doing the transsexual schtick in hopes of getting out of the army on a "Section 8") Keval
Guest guest
Namaste Keval... Section 8 Housing is a program by the government in which people can live in designated apartments for little or no rent. Your rent is based on your income. In most places there is a waiting list you must be placed on. Most people tend to view Section 8 as more desirable than the general low-income housing ("projects") offered here. I say more desirable, as you have more freedom to choose where you want to live, as opposed to low-income housing where there are only designated projects you can live in. Most of the apartments in the projects are very poorly maintained with very few amenities. Whereas some of the Section 8 housing is really nice. The apartment I used to live in qualified for Section 8, and I had two bedrooms, two complete baths, kitchen, new appliances, outdoor storage area, patio, washer-dryer connection, water paid, and so on. Hope that helps clear up any confusion... ¸..• ´¨¨)) -:¦:- ¸.•´ .•´¨¨)) ((¸¸.•´ ..•´ -:¦:- ..::Brightest Blessings::.. -:¦:- ((¸¸.•´.¸..•` ..::Bela::..
