Hi Bela,

There's a really simple meditation--the MA OM meditation-- that is

led by Swami Amritaswarupananda every time Amma comes. There is a

tape that explains it and leads you in it which is called AMRITA

YOGA. Somebody correct me if I've got the title wrong, plesae.

This method is SO SIMPLE that I wrote it to several of the prisoners

to whom I write and they are able to do it from the description in

the letter. They report that it helps them a lot.

It involves sitting in a comfortable position, closing your eyes,

relaxing your body, and taking 3 deep breaths, after which you chant

OM. (The prisoners don't do the OM part necessarily.) Then you

watch your breathing for a few minutes. Don't try to take deeper

breaths or do anything unusual with your breath, just watch it. Then

you think of observe the syllable MA as you inhale and OM as you

exhale. As you keep doing that, your focus on the breathing changes

to focus on MO OM..MA OM..MA OM. If your mind wanders, just bring

it back to yourbreathing for a minute and then listen for the MA OM

again.

This is a very nice meditation. Amma has suggested it for many

people.
