Dear Devi's Daughter ~ we have had prisoners on our list by name, if it has been requested. There is one on the list now whom Aikya and temba have both mentioned, so I don't feel it is inappropriate to share his name, Michael Moore. There is also now a general prayer on the list for the prisoners who were moved from Alaska to Arizona. I believe prayer can and does help everyone, no matter what kind of prison they may be in. Even those of us who seem to walk free may be in prison. Jai Ma ~ Linda P.S. I know, and I have been personally asked to always reference the subject line of the post I am responding to, but since this is about prisoners and the prayer list, I felt I just did not want to continue using the "courageous conversations..." reference. I hope everyone understands.
Guest guest
One of the women prisoners was on the list for some time. She was released from prison in March, has had one of the state innocence projects agree to bring her case back to court to prove her innocence, was given permission much earlier than usual (June) to visit her family in another state and will be able to move back with her aging mother. Gosh, She's actually moving today, or has moved by today. Oh, and also, she and her husband had divorced because of some legal technicality which meant that their children would get more help if they were divorced. They are remarrying once this move is over. That's one story about what can happen when we have a prisoner on our Prayer List. Not bad, eh? Guest guest
Circle of Love Inside has a lot of stories of the breakthrough of divine grace--the story of the woman whose name was on our prayer list, who maintained her innocence for 12 years in prison, is only one. Just today I got an email asking if Circle of Love Letters and Circle of Love Inside was officially sanctioned. I wish I could get Shreemata to answer the question about Circle of Love Letters. Shreemata lives with constant back pain. There are some on the list who have received Circle of Love Letters at difficutl moments. When I think of this woman, former prisoner, who is now with her mother and who will remarry her spouse, or of the young man who learned from some Amma books and prayers not to fight with another inmate because "we're all about love," or Michael Moore quoting the Bhagavad Gita in Sanskrit to me in a letter this year...these are grace, divine grace in action. If we say that grace is inherent in the person's own punya- karmaphallam, okay then. Although these people are or were in prison, they still had done some good at some time which has now replayed as this good development. If we think grace comes from a compassionate deity, then who is Amma? We can give Amma credit for blessing at least Michael Moore and the other young man since both are openly devoted to her. What about this woman? She isn't particularly interested in Amma even though she did read the biography. She has her own tradition. Oh, and, since she came out of prison, she has written to about 40 women she met while she was incarcerated. Who is blessing her?
