Guest guest
Namaste everyone... I am interested in knowing more about meditation. Obviously, I can get information online (which I have looked up), but I am more interested in hearing how many of you incorporate meditation into your daily lives. My typical day is waking up at 5:30AM, arriving home from work and picking up the wee ones around 6PM. From then until 9PM, I am focused on cooking dinner, helping them with schoolwork and getting them to bed. I don't have a lot of free time (unfortunately) but I really want to start meditation daily... baby steps, I guess! I don't know much about the IAM method, or if any information is available about it, short of taking a course. There are no satsangs in my area, so taking a course (again, unfortunately) is not an option for me. If anyone could give me some ideas or tips, or even share their stories about how they began meditating, or how meditation fits into your daily life and routine, I would be extremely appreciate of your time and kindness. Take care, be well... and thank you in advance! (**) ¸..• ´¨¨)) -:¦:- ¸.•´ .•´¨¨)) ((¸¸.•´ ..•´ -:¦:- ..::Brightest Blessings::.. -:¦:- ((¸¸.•´.¸..•` ..::Bela::.. Guest guest
Om Namah Shivaya, I use noise reduction headphones to meditate, since it's often noisey at home. It's powerful to chant Amma's 108 names, or the 108 names of Devi. Then of course, we can chant our mantras 108x. I have a little routine, that needs to become more regular. In the AM, I've enjoyed chanting Amma's 108 names. If I'm up early enough, then the 1,000 names of the Divine Mother is even better. It really puts a good energy into the rest of the day. Then, I like to use a technique that's similar to the MA-OM technique. You can get a MA-OM audio tape from Amma's books. In the evening, maybe around dinner time, I especially enjoy doing the IAM technique. But, it's confidential & needs to be learned from an approved instructor. If you send your address to me, I'll gladly mail a meditation booklet to you, written by Roy Eugene Davis, a direct disciple of Yogananda's. If you can use even 5 minutes during the day, here & there, for meditation, it's beneficial. I used to meditate on my lunch hour. I would say that 20 minutes is a good starting place. Later, you may want to meditate for 45 minutes, to reach a higher level consciousness. After your child goes to sleep at night, would probably be a very good time for meditation. I used to sit in a walk-in closet on weekend nights, & meditate for 2 hours. It was wonderful! Also, it would be excellent to meditate first thing in the morning before your children wake-up, even if for 10 minutes. O.K. now I'm inspired to have a more regular meditation practice! Guest guest
I think some of Amma's on-line literature states that it's good to meditate for 5 minutes, before getting out of bed in the morning. Guest guest
greetings to my beautiful sister and child of AMMA bela.that not knowingness that you have expressed is the right attitude to have while walking on the spiritual path.AMMAs son has experinced this.some of our experiences begin to become dry because sometimes we begin to believe that because we have been doing something(meditating)for so long that we know and therefore we end up being closed to new and deeper spiritual experinces.AMMAs son suggest that you keep this openness and willingness to grow.YOU HAVE TAUGHT AMMAS son alot in just having the correct attitude. AMMA has said that what you really want ,you will find the time for.ALSO, you should first before you ask a question externally ,ask it in your own heart.this will HELP YOU TO DEVELOPE A relationship with AMMA WITHIN YOU.not saying that you dont have one already, this is just food for thought.AMMAs son always asked AMMA to guide him when he meditates.AMMAS son beleives with all his heart that AMMA IS ACTUALLY THERE WITH him during the meditation.you should know this as well my sister.KNOW AND BELIEVE IN YOUR HEART THAT AMMA IS WITH YOU."AMMA PLEASE TAKE YOUR CHILD DEEP INTO MEDITATION."AMMA YOUR CHILD WANTS TO MEDITATE TO BE CLOSER TO YOU AND THUS CLOSER TO THE HEART OF EVERYONE".AFTER THAT YOU CAN CHANT OM AND THEN MA.YOU CAN BEGIN TO FOCUS ON YOUR BREATH,AS THOUGHTS COME IN AND OUT DONT JUDGE THEM.JUST WATCH THEM.YOU CAN CHANT MA OR OM IN YOUR MIND IN ORDER TO ELIMINATE THE THOUGHTS.BE PATIENT WITH YOURSELF AND REMAIN INNOCENT.AMMA SAYS THAT WHEN YOU PARTICIPATE IN SPIRITUAL PRACTICES THE FRUIT WILL COME ,HOWEVER DONT BE CONCERNED WITH THE FRUIT(REWARD).LIKE YOU SAID ,JUST TAKE BABY STEPS AS WE ARE ALL BABYS.DONT EXPECT ANYTHING,FOR THAT WILL ONLY BE A DISTRACTION.IF YOU CAN SIT IN LOTUS ,THAT IS COOL,HOWEVER JUST MAKE SURE YOUR BACK IS STRAIT. AS FAR AS TIME GOES ,SIT DOWN AND RIGHT DOWN YOUR SKEDULE SO THAT YOU CAN SEE IT IN YOUR FACE.SEE IF THERE IS ANY THING THAT YOU CAN SHIFT AROUND.MAYBE YOU CAN TAKE LESS TIME TO EAT DURING YOUR LUNCH BREAK.YOU CAN USE 15 MINUTES OF THAT TO MEDITATE.AND KNOW THAT IT IS A LOT TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR BEAUTIFUL CHILDREN AND WORK.AMMAS son bows to that ,however maybe you can get up 15 minutes earlier.while you are taking bathroom breaks you can use that time.while you are in the shower ,though AMMA WANTS US TO BE CONSCIOUS OF NOT WASTING WATER,MAYBE YOU CAN USE 10 MINUTES OF THAT TIME. my sister to keep it more simple.IF YOU GET UP A HALF AN HOUR EARLIER,MEDITATE THEN,USE SOME OF THE TIME DURING YOUR LUNCH BREAK AND 15 MINUTES TO A HALF AN HOUR BEFORE YOU GO TO BED ,YOU ARE ON YOUR WAY. there are many ways to begin.these are just AMMAS sons experience.just begin.YOU HAVE AMMA WITHIN YOU .HER LOVE WILL GUIDE YOU.namah shivaya. >Bela Gaytán <bela.fela >Ammachi ><Ammachi> > Meditaiton Starting Point... >Thu, 8 Dec 2005 20:11:15 -0500 > >Namaste everyone... > >I am interested in knowing more about meditation.
