Guest guest
OM NAMAH SIVAYA Temba, as EricB and Rakim said, "it's not where your from it's where your at." right? there are infinite ways to separate ourselves from each other, race, religion, or otherwise. but as Shree Maa's Swami Satyananda said once there is really no need to be more specific than that we are all human beings. i have been otherwise occupied recently but was reading through the posts and wonder from yours if maybe you are from Humbolt Park, (just guessing from the neighborhood activities you mentioned and the 773 phone). if so we may be neighbors. at any rate regardless of your hood, if you interested send me your email and i will forward it to the chicago satsang organizers so you can be notified when we have the Amma satsang. i thought maybe you would be interested attending. -eric JAI MA Ammachi, "temba spirits" <tembaspirits@h...> wrote: > > someone told AMMAs son on the phone today that the issue of racism amongs > spiritual circles is being smered over.it was interesting that as an african > american ,AMMAs son had to comfort a white american.she was very upset.tried > to give her the universal love conversation but she wasnt trying to hear > it.dont get me wrong, the conversation was great.just wandering if anyone > alse had a perspective on this topic..MOTHERS son has been treated a little > strangly while chanting in certain circles.wont say there names .that is not > important.wondering also if anyone ever wondered why there arent more > blackpeople and hispanic people in some of these circles.AMMAs son is asking > because he is not aftraid to be real, but also, want to get a deeper > understanding.figure we are all brothers and sisters and could open this can > of worms.namahashivaya. > > > >Rachel Barrett Gallop <hipstorian@g...> > >Ammachi > >Ammachi > >Re: Re: Gratitude > >Sun, 4 Dec 2005 00:24:58 -0500 > > > >The root of meditation is the Guru's form. > >The root of worship is the Guru's feet. > >The root of mantra is the Guru's words. > >The root of liberation is the Guru's grace. > >-- Guru Gita, Verse 76 > > > >Reminded by the story of a devotee in Michigan who found Amma had saved a > >seat for her at the "sandal spot," that we noticed in San Ramon that > >Mother's usual white Birkenstocks had been replaced with an offering of sky > >blue ones. much love, Prashanti > > > > > > > > > > _______________ > Express yourself instantly with MSN Messenger! Guest guest
On one level, of course, it's true that it's good to focus on our common humanity. On another level, these ways in which we have been separated and separate ourselves from others are powerful subjective experiences that affect how we relate to one another. I have seen this in satsang, as well as in the rest of the world and have even talked to people of color at Amma's programs who were quite upset because of feeling that they were not treated as well as others who had come for darshan by the sevites they encountered. So, it's important to strive to treat each other as our common humanity would inspire, but also to be aware of places where we have shortcomings and consider how to work on those. Guest guest
execellent point, and that is exactly why MOTHERS son put it out there.we wont be able to go deeper as spiritual communtys if we are not courageous enough to look at this with open hearts.just so all of AMMAS son BROTHERS AND SISTERS NO.AMMAs son has been obedient to the call of the AMMA WITHIN him to invite all the youth groups in california to AMMAs darshan in june.so far he has invited AN AFRICAN AMERICAN YOUTH ORG.A LATINO AMERICAN YOUTH ORG.A POLITICAL ACTIVIST YOTH GROUP AND A YOUTH GROUP THAT DEALS WITH KIDS THAT ARE ON PROBATION AND ARE BEING GUIDED TO STAY OUT OF JAIL.MOTHERS son has had heartfelt connections with ALL OF THEM.THIS IS AMMAS WILL.mothers SON HAS sent them copys of MOTHERS VIDEOS(MOSTLY HER 50TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION).the reason for this is because 191 cultures are honorered and people can see that it is bgiger then any one culture or geographical location.they also can relate more this way.there was a new door that opened up when yolanda king appeared on the video and also when MOTHER won the GHANDI MARTIN LUTHER KING WARD.this automatically opens up a doorway for AFRICAN AMERICANS and other so-called minority groups. TWO OR THREE GROUPS OUT OF FIVE THAT MOTHERS son has reached out to have taken interest in coming to san ramon in june.MOTHERS son shares this in hopes to inspire.IT IS SOMETHING THAT AMMA placed in this heart and AMMAs son also spoke to AMMA about this in SAN RAMON IN nov.HER response to him was "YOUR INNOCENT DESIRE WILL HAPPEN ." WHEN MOTHERs son first went to see AMMA SIX YEARS AGO IN NEWEYORK,he immediatly had a vision of bus loads of young people coming from communitys in n.america who had been through street life.this is not limited to african american people.there are white american ghetts in as well.MOTHERS son experienced this in rockford iilinois.young white kids are calling themselves gangsters and pimps as well.these kids in the hood have given up on religion.AMMAs hug can save them from this.MOTHERS son believes this with all of his heart. namah shivaya home phone # 773-722 -3247 >"ammasiswari" <ammasiswari >Ammachi >Ammachi > Re: Gratitude -Temba >Mon, 05 Dec 2005 17:56:34 -0000 > >On one level, of course, it's true that it's good to focus on our common >humanity. Guest guest
AMMAS SON WOULD LOVE TO ATTEND.his heart is leaping for joy for the invite.on another note.MOTHERS son agrees with the eric b. thing as he is one of AMMAs sons favorite hip-hop artist.we understand that there is only one humanity ,however as SAINT FRANCIS says"may i seek to understand instead of being understood".in all respect ,this point about being one human race is a given.we throw around this thing about being one atman and all of this ,but are we truly in the experince of this or is it just some deep thing that sounds heavy.AMMAs son has learned that the more you become aware of your oneness ,the more you feel the pain of others and the more you sympathize with everyone struggle.racism is real for a lot of people.we ahve to meet those people where they are at.WHEN christ saw those children of his hungry he fed them first.after he fed them ,a couple of days later because he had gained there trust,HE was able to teach them.THIS IS IN THE BOOK OF JOHN IN THE BIBLE.IF WE DONT MEET PEOPLE WHERE THEY ARE AT THEY WILL NOT TRUST US AND WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO REACH THEM.this is AMMAs sons experience.if AMMA HAD NOT TAKEN A BODY(MET US ON ARE LEVEL) WE WOULD NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT ALL OF THIS HEAVY SPIRITUAL STUFF.namah shivaya. >"ecjensen_us" <ecjensen_us >Ammachi >Ammachi > Re: Gratitude -Temba >Mon, 05 Dec 2005 16:31:17 -0000 > >OM NAMAH SIVAYA > >Temba, as EricB and Rakim said, "it's not where your from it's where >your at." right? there are infinite ways to separate ourselves from >each other, race, religion, or otherwise. but as Shree Maa's Swami >Satyananda said once there is really no need to be more specific >than that we are all human beings. i have been otherwise occupied >recently but was reading through the posts and wonder from yours if >maybe you are from Humbolt Park, (just guessing from the >neighborhood activities you mentioned and the 773 phone). if so we >may be neighbors. at any rate regardless of your hood, if you >interested send me your email and i will forward it to the chicago >satsang organizers so you can be notified when we have the Amma >satsang. i thought maybe you would be interested attending. -eric > >JAI MA > >Ammachi, "temba spirits" <tembaspirits@h...> >wrote: > > > > someone told AMMAs son on the phone today that the issue of racism >amongs > > spiritual circles is being smered over.it was interesting that as >an african > > american ,AMMAs son had to comfort a white american.she was very >upset.tried > > to give her the universal love conversation but she wasnt trying >to hear > > it.dont get me wrong, the conversation was great.just wandering if >anyone > > alse had a perspective on this topic..MOTHERS son has been treated >a little > > strangly while chanting in certain circles.wont say there >names .that is not > > important.wondering also if anyone ever wondered why there arent >more > > blackpeople and hispanic people in some of these circles.AMMAs son >is asking > > because he is not aftraid to be real, but also, want to get a deeper > > understanding.figure we are all brothers and sisters and could >open this can > > of worms.namahashivaya. > > > > > > >Rachel Barrett Gallop <hipstorian@g...> > > >Ammachi > > >Ammachi > > >Re: Re: Gratitude > > >Sun, 4 Dec 2005 00:24:58 -0500 > > > > > >The root of meditation is the Guru's form. > > >The root of worship is the Guru's feet. > > >The root of mantra is the Guru's words. > > >The root of liberation is the Guru's grace. > > >-- Guru Gita, Verse 76 > > > > > >Reminded by the story of a devotee in Michigan who found Amma had >saved a > > >seat for her at the "sandal spot," that we noticed in San Ramon >that > > >Mother's usual white Birkenstocks had been replaced with an >offering of sky > > >blue ones. much love, Prashanti > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > _______________ > > Express yourself instantly with MSN Messenger! Guest guest
OM NAMAH SIVAYA i agree with what you say in meet them where they are at, my point with the one humanity thing was that it is not really about racism. but rather about Love. and economics. Jesus fed them(economics) but they trusted him because of His Pure Love. Amma is who She is because of Her Pure Love. we understand the pain of others and meet them wherever they are out of Love not through the differences. not love but Love......... "There is love and Love. You love your family — your father, mother, sister, brother, husband, wife, etc. But you do not love your neighbour. You love your son or daughter, but you do not love all children. You love your father and mother, but you do not love everyone the way you love your father and mother. You love your religion, but you do not love all religions. Likewise, you have love for your country, but you do not love all countries. Hence, this is not Love; it is only love. Transformation of this love to Love is the goal of spirituality. In the fullness of Love blossoms the beautiful, fragrant flower of compassion." -Amma it is a circle that we work to widen till it is everthing/everyone.
