Guest guest
A friend of mine wants to know: HI Rick I'm sure you guys had a superb retreat. Bob mentioned that Amma was asked about people getting enlightened via diksha, which they pay money for. We're interested in her answer. -- Version: 7.1.362 / Virus Database: 267.13.10/189 - Release 11/30/2005
Guest guest
Hi Rick, I took notes, but for now will just say that she said it was like offering money to a flower bud to open faster--or words to that effect. She said some other things, too, but that's what stuck with me. This "deal" that the European devotees were asking her about (getting enlightenment for $7500 or so) was also mentioned in San Ramon, and Swamiji blurted out something about false gurus and Amma shushed him. It was great seeing you in MI. Love, Jyotsna Rick Archer <rick wrote: A friend of mine wants to know: HI Rick I'm sure you guys had a superb retreat. Guest guest
All this refers to "Bhagavan Kalki," who's pretty hot in Fairfield these days. I know 4 people here who've gone over to India for extended "diksha" sessions. They all rave about it. on 12/1/05 3:31 PM, E. Guest guest
Actually Amma shredded the concept in no uncertain terms. She only shooshed Swamiji for his later particular language regarding false gurus. But Amma was very clear on Her feelings about the automatic enlightenment concept and this particular program and what a waste of money it was and how the poor could use that money much more. - Rick Archer Ammachi Thursday, December 01, 2005 1:43 PM Re: Enlightenment and money All this refers to "Bhagavan Kalki," who's pretty hot in Fairfield these days. Guest guest
The gist of Big Swamis reply was that it was impossible to pay for enlightenment....otherwise the wealthy people of the world would be enlightened...and most of the world's problems would be dramatically improved, which we have not seen... Guest guest
Yes, it made me recall a popular folk song from long ago: "If religion were a thing that money could buy, You know the rich would live and the poor would die..."
