Guest guest
excerpted from Sw. Ramakrishananda's new book " The Blessed Life ". road rage incident, page 50: "After the driver passed me ,(Sw.Ramakrishanada in his early ashram days), I spun my car around and gave chase. Enraged by his reckless and egoistic driving, I had decided to teach him a lesson. I overtook him and drove several kilometers ahead, increasing the distance between us. Then I trurned the car around and got out, waiting for him to pass by. As I saw him approaching, I took a large stone from the side of the road and hurled it against his windshield, cracking it nicely. Then I got back in the car and speed away. I returned to the ashram as fast as I could, eager to regale Amma with the tale of my heroic exploits. " I leave to List members guess how Amma reacted. I thank Swamiji for selflessly sharing his mistakes with us. It gives me hope. Page 59: In the days after the disaster , Amma told Her senior disciple, Swami Amritaswarupananda, that She planned to dedicate 23 million dollars for the releif and rehabilitation of the tsunami victims.Later, he said that when he first heard this, he couldn't believe his ears. "What!?" he asked Amma, flabbergasted. "23 million dollars! Where is the money going to come from ?" Amma was calm. She simply said, "It will come." my comment: even Big Swamiji gets surprised by Amma. Swamiji Ramakrishnananda shares his difficulties during his bad period in 1989-90 when Amma gave him no attention, and explained ( pages 262-3)"... that I was going through a very bad period and that I was destined to undergo suffering and hardship at this time. That was why Amma had been treating me harshly. She also said that I should take some kind of vow in addition to my normal spiritual practices. She said that it was such a bad time that I might even leave the ashram. Thinking about Amma's advice,I decided that...I would take a vow of silence and fasting on Thursdays, which is the day traditionally symbolic of worship of the Guru. " ================================================================= I thank Swamiji for his book, and I have personally benefitted a lot from his advice and wisdom since coming to Amma. Guest guest
Om Namah Shivayah, Thank you for sharing this. I looked for this book in the Amma Shop, and do not see it. Do you know if it is available somewhere? Thank You! Ananthasree http://www.ammaschildren.com Ammachi, "sara" <saramj33> wrote: > > excerpted from Sw. Guest guest
Dear Ananthasree, how it usually happens is these books are released on the tours, and then after that winds down, the put them up on the website. Sometimes the shop may have them before they're up on the website, but not always. Never hurts to email and ask, unless you don't mind waiting a few weeks to just get it in Michigan.
