Guest guest Posted November 7, 2005 Report Share Posted November 7, 2005 BLUES CONCERT TO BENEFIT KATRINA SURVIVORS - FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 11th The Eli Yamin Quartet presents The Different Moods of the Blues A New York Satsang benefit for hurricane Katrina survivors Featuring: Bob Stewart, tuba Kate McGary, voice Lafrae Sci, drums Eli Yamin, piano and voice Friday, November 11th, 8 p.m. The Advent Lutheran Church/Broadway United Church of Christ 2504 Broadway (at 93rd Street), NYC Suggested donation starts at $10. Please make checks payable to MA Center. All proceeds will go to help those in need. The Different Mood of the Blues welcomes audiences of all ages into the rich, varied world of America's primary musical art form with pieces that range from spiritual to classical, bebop to folk. Vocalist Kate McGary opens the show with an acappela rendering of the traditional Trouble of the World, followed by a Taj Mahal inspired Fishin' Blues. Bob Stewart's virtuosity and expressive power spark Ellington's Mood Indigo. The quartet cuts loose with John Henry and the great classics, After Hours and The Night Time is the Right Time.
