Music Notables to Perform for

Hurricane Relief Charity Gala

Mill Valley, CA – October 22, 2005 - A hurricane

relief concert featuring diverse

musical artists will be held Sunday,

November 6, 2005 from 4 – 7 pm in

Mill Valley. Musical luminaries

like ‘ Woodstock’ legend Country

Joe McDonald; blues and soul

performing Freddie Hughes Band

featuring Rich Kirch; Ms. Lakshmi Devi;

Stephen Kent and Geoffrey Gordon

will perform. The gala concert

and feast will be held at the

Mill Valley Community Center,

180 Camino Alto, Mill Valley,

California. A $25.00 admission

price ($30.00 at the door)

includes a catered Indian

Dinner provided by India

Village Restaurant of San

Rafael, California.

The gala is a fundraiser

for M.A. Center, the U.S.

-based non-profit organization

for Mata Amritanandamayi.

Mata Amritanandamayi, also

known as Amma, or the

"Hugging Saint", is a

renowned humanitarian

who made international

headlines earlier this

year for pledging to

raise funds for both Tsunami

and Hurricane Katrina

relief efforts. See

http://www.ammachi.org/amma/ammaun1.html for more

information.

Special seating has been

set aside for Hurricane

Survivor’s relocated to

the San Francisco Bay Area

and invitations have been

extended to evacuees. The

event has a dual purpose

of raising funds for Hurricane

Relief efforts and providing

an evening of fun and entertainment

for relocated evacuees.

Donations to M.A. Center are

tax-deductible to the full extent

permitted by law. M.A. Center

volunteers all over North America

are providing relief to those

directly affected by the hurricanes

in the Gulf Coast. Net proceeds

go directly to support these

ongoing efforts.

On July 24, 2005, the United

Nations offered the distinguished

award/recognition of “Special

United Nations Consultative

Status” to Mata Amritanandamayi

Math (M.A. Math) for leadership

in tsunami relief and numerous

other humanitarian activities

in India.
