Mill Valley, CA – October 22, 2005 - A hurricane

November 6, 2005 from 4 – 7 pm in

Mill Valley. Musical luminaries

like ‘ Woodstock’ legend Country

The gala is a fundraiser

for M.A. Center, the U.S.

-based non-profit organization

for Mata Amritanandamayi.

Mata Amritanandamayi, also

known as Amma, or the

"Hugging Saint", is a

renowned humanitarian

who made international

headlines earlier this

year for pledging to

raise funds for both Tsunami

and Hurricane Katrina

relief efforts. See

http://www.ammachi.org/amma/ammaun1.html for more

information.

Special seating has been

set aside for Hurricane

Survivor’s relocated to

the San Francisco Bay Area

and invitations have been

extended to evacuees. The

event has a dual purpose

of raising funds for Hurricane

Relief efforts and providing

an evening of fun and entertainment

for relocated evacuees.

Donations to M.A. Center are

tax-deductible to the full extent

permitted by law. M.A. Center

volunteers all over North America

are providing relief to those

directly affected by the hurricanes

in the Gulf Coast. Net proceeds

go directly to support these

ongoing efforts.

On July 24, 2005, the United

Nations offered the distinguished

award/recognition of “Special

United Nations Consultative

Status” to Mata Amritanandamayi

Math (M.A. Math) for leadership

in tsunami relief and numerous

other humanitarian activities

in India.

Cast of Performers

Music will be provided by “Woodstock”

legend Country Joe McDonald and a

seasoned cast of musicians.

Country Joe McDonald was lead singer

of the 1960’s rock and roll group,

“Country Joe and the Fish”.

Despite being an honorably

discharged Naval veteran,

Mr. McDonald is best-known

for the rousing satirical

song, "I Feel Like I'm Fixin'

to Die Rag" concerning the

Vietnam War, with the unforgettable

chorus ("One, two, three, what

are we fighting for?") known to

future generations in the

documentary on the festival

called “Woodstock”.

Mr. McDonald has recorded

over 33 albums and has

written hundreds of songs

over a career spanning 40

years. In 2004 Country Joe

played at the World Peace

Music Awards.

Joining Country Joe we

present the FREDDIE HUGHES BAND

featuring Rich Kirch. Oakland’s

Freddie Hughes is a respected

Bay Area soul/blues singer.

Mr. Hughes greatest hit

was 1967’s rhythm and blues

ballad, “Send My Baby Back."

His band features notable

blues guitarist, Rich Kirch

who played with blues legend

John Lee Hooker for over 11

years. Rich performed in Mr.

Hooker’s 1995 Grammy Award

winner, "Chill Out".

The lineup will also feature

Marin County performing

artist/songwriter/lyricist,

Lakshmi Devi. Ms. Devi

presents a passionate vocal

style occasionally blending

tribal rock with devotion

to the divine feminine

containing a pop sensibility.

Rounding out the Concert

Gala and Feast is the duo

of Stephen Kent and Geoffrey

Gordon. Stephen Kent is a

weekly World Music DJ for

Northern California radio

station KPFA. The Didgeridoo

is described as a wind

instrument primarily played

by the Aborigines of Australia. Critic J. Poet of

“Tower Pulse” Magazine

asserted that Mr. Kent is

“the finest non-aboriginal

didgeridoo player”.

The distinguished percussionist

and kirtan artist Geoffrey Gordon

joins Mr. Kent.

Mr. Gordon is a multi-instrumentalist,

composer, recording artist, teacher,

and world music producer. He has

appeared on many popular cinema

soundtracks such as (“Raising Arizona,

“Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and

“Airheads”). Geoffrey has recorded

and performed for over three decades

with artists ranging from rock and

roll legends Robbie Robertson and

Rita Coolidge, to Broadway

performances of M. Butterfly

with John Lithgow and has performed

in the “Lion King” on Broadway.
