At the last retreat, I was in agony and when I came back my physical therapist wanted to know what the heck I was doing to cause so much muscle spasm! While at the retreat, I was shifting my weight and squirming all over the place just trying to alleviate the pain. It was so frustrating because I could not fully enjoy the moment, and I was embarassed being the only one fidgeting all over the place. So my question is.... what is the best option for a floor pillow/backjack thingy that works well for pain but is also non-obtrusive or bulky? Dear Ananthasree ~ I am so sorry to hear about the car accident you were in. I have been in three car accidents (two drunk drivers, one red light runner). Do they no longer have chairs at Amma's programs for those who are ill or disabled? After my car accident, I was in physical therapy for two years; that was over ten years ago, and I still have mind numbing pain. There was no way I could sit in the regular darshan line (though I thought the tokens had done away with that). Even in the chairs, I could not sit for too long without having to get up and walk around. Any position, held for two long, made my pain so much worse. The people coordinating the Chair Group were very kind to me, and always let me sit in that section. Pain is something that others cannot see, but if there are still chairs, and you explain your situation, I am sure they would accommodate you. Jai Ma ~ Linda P.S. If this pain continues for a significant period, please write to me, off digest, and let me know.
