Outside of Fairfield, people intently ask, ³What is going on in Fairfield?²

The spiritual, utopian side of Fairfield is something they are wondering

about. Fairfield has become recognized as a spiritual Mecca of sorts,

ranking with Sedona, Arizona, Boulder and Crestone, Colorado, Ashville,

North Carolina and the like. Within these past three decades, Fairfield

spiritual practice groups have matured, giving this community a rich, new

face.

Dear Rick ~ all I can say is Wow! I had no idea. It is like you are in a

spiritual vortex, which is what is said about Sedona. The list of activities was

amazing. The thought of so many people worshiping in so many different ways

just amazed me. And is there an Indian Temple there? You mentioned a Vedic

priest who conducts yagyas and such. My hubby doesn't want to move, which is

understandable, given his wage and the good salary he is pulling down here.

Perhaps I will have to add this to the prayer list. : ) Blessings ~ Linda

I've heard that the Native Americans considered Fairfield (before it was

Fairfield) a sacred place and used to come from great distances for

spiritual get-togethers here. Yes, there's a temple and Pundit Sharma comes

down from Chicago regularly to do homas and stuff. It doesn't look like a

Hindu temple from the outside. Just a building. But there are dozens of

Stapathya-Vedic buildings in town, some of them large office buildings, and

they have a distinctive appearance. I don’t blame your husband for not

wanting to give up the good job. Did you mean "given his 'age' and the good

salary"? Maybe think of retiring here, if hog factory farms haven’t taken

over by then. There's a big battle going on now over that.

Dear Rick ~ if I understand your question, I think the answer is yes ... due

to my hubby's age (late 50's) and his good salary, moving without having a

job offer in advance is probably not an option for us. My sister and her

husband are in the same boat. They'd rather not be in Washington, DC, but fear

that

Randy would have trouble getting another job because of his age. It's a

tough job market out there these days. On the other hand, if there's any

agricultural production/processing going on, that might make it more of an

option.

But, yes, maybe a thought towards retirement. Blessings ~ Linda
