Guest guest
A while back people asked about bhajan music, so I thought I'd post the chords I use for Mangalam and the chords for Arathi that are from the MAC book. Mangalam 3 chords used: Occasional strum, mostly for sustain and chord changes, chords held out if harmonium Asus2 (Am with the c-note/b-string finger lifted up, to play a "b" instead of "c" Am Em Amriteshvari Mangalam Prana Mataam Mukti Prade Mangalam Bhuvaneshvarii Mangalam Sukritinaam Yekaashraye Mangalam (repeat line before repeating entire first verse, then go to second verse) Hridayeshvarii Mangalam Hridi Lhasa Tejomayii Mangalam Mridu Bhaashinii Mangalam Vijaya Taam Prema Krite Mangalam (this line 3 times total to end) CHORD SEQUENCE FOR MANGALAM FIRST VERSE: Asus2; change to Am on "Nesh" of Bhuvaneshvarii SECOND VERSE: Em; change to Am on "Bhaash" of Bhaashinii AMMACHI ARATHI chords (2 patterns, with second half the same for both) FIRST 2 VERSES (and the final repeat of the first verse): C G, CFCGC; CGDG, FCGC, CCFCGC (Maataa...) ALL OTHER VERSES: C, DFC, GCGFG; CGDG, FCGC, CCFCGC The Arathi is from memory, of what I learned from the MAC music books years ago, so I hope there's no mistakes. The Mangalam is something I figured out on my own, keeping it in Am for a good segue to the C in the Arathi. For the Mangalam on guitar, you can add a capo on the first fret if it seems a little low, but higher than this makes female singers drop the octave for the second verse, losing the flow of the song. Either way, Mangalam has a wide range. tom Bhajan Learning for Westerners (tips, product reviews, etc.) bhajanlearning/
