Didn't Amma say that "television" and "poison" are the same word in Malayalam? Keval ~~~~~~~~ my 2cents: I read (not sure where ) that one devotee asked Amma if she could get enlightened in this life time. Supposedly Amma said "Yes, if you quit watching TV." In any case, personally, I do not see any reason for me to try to get on the Amrita TV band wagon. I feel that as more and more people get involved with Amma, all sorts of projects might come up. I view this as an opportunity for other people, who otherwise might not be interested, to get involved seva-wise or for entertainment( if people are into that), etc. Also, my impression from a few months at Amritapuri, is that Amma does not promote this or that for everyone. For instance, the beautiful IAM Course was given a few times, but I never heard Amma personally promote it. Amma did say some time ago that one way for all is dangerous. And one thing that did stand out is that each of the many visitors( especially the westerners ) seemed unique in their overall spirituall paths. Another example. When Amma was given a tour of AIMS Hospital. The excited doctor showing Her around was very surprised that Amma did not seem impressed enough with all the best of medical technology which came from all over the world. Before leaving the confused doctor, Amma said "This hospital is not for Me, it is for you?" Also, this might apply. I asked Amma a question hoping to get a very specific answer. But Amma said, more or less, for me to experiment and find what I'm comfortable with. So, especially for new people, it would be a mistake, imho, to see some party line being implemented to please Amma. "Be careful" is another thing Amma said to me once. Two years later, I realized I did not pin Her down what to be careful about. So, I asked and She said "Everything." So, if you feel drawn and can contribute seva-wise to Amrita TV or feel that you will benefit spiritually by watching it, by all means do it for yourself. I know that we all want to do the right thing. I feel it's very important to remember that none of Amma's teachings are dogmatic. And, I never heard Amma propose any kind of World Plan. And, that Amma does not want anything from us. Whatever we do is for our own spiritual growth ~ and that's what makes Amma happy. But all of these are just my feelings/opinions from my limited contact with Amma.
