Guest guest
Namah Shivaya, Did anyone else participate with above referenced conference call? I did ,though it was hard to hear it all because we were on a crackly speaker cell phone. I think the gist of it was that Mother desires Amrita TV to be developed more. She wants devotees to help in producing, creating and submitting programs. Anyone else out there have anything to share on the subject? Guest guest
Namaste I was on the confrence call. Amma wants more money from her devotees so that Amrit TV is in the hands of devotees not other people. Swami wants a 1,000 from each of us. Also, wants suitable television programs to show. Guest guest
It's not in the hands of devotees now? Wasn't it started by devotees with Amma's blessing, or I presume there's enough percentage of underwriters that aren't. Anyone with more detailed information please share what they know about Amrita TV. $1,000 from each person (or was it each satsang) is a lot to swallow for a media outlet. It seems uncharacteristic of Amma to ask for a big chunk of money like that. We'll see if an official request comes out. They would raise a lot more money through subscriptions if the programming were made more palatable to Westerners. Whenever I've watched it, it's talking heads speaking Malayalam. Regular Amma Q&A's and bhajans are promised, but haven't happened yet to my knowledge.

Amritavarsham, a half-hour show airing twice weekly, has a short talk by Amma followed by one bhajan with Amma. That is followed by Big Swamiji's talk and another bhajan by another group. Subtitles are sporadic right now, but should become more regular. The initial focus will be on subtitling shows that would be of appeal to Western English-speaking devotees, such as, perhaps, Krishna Kripa Sagaram (Krishna's ocean of compassion), a show that is technically crude but still appealing. Br. Dayamrita did not want appeals to be made in any written form, including email, to avoid misunderstandings. So I suggest you contact him or Jai Mishra (or someone who attended the conference call) by telephone to know more. Nandu
Guest guest
where is this program available, that is, how does one access it? vallathnkumar wrote: > > Amritavarsham, a half-hour show airing twice weekly, has a short talk by Amma followed by one bhajan with Amma. "They say, `Give me what I desire and what I like. Do not give those things that I dislike.' How can this be prayer? This is just trying to establish supremacy over God. This is questioning God's omniscient nature. The so-called believer is saying indirectly that he knows better than God what is best for himself and what is not. Can we call this prayer? No, we cannot. It is just an exposition of his ego. He still has his own likes and dislikes. His goal is to fulfill his desires. Desire is the central point around which his prayer revolves." --Ammachi, "Awaken Children," Vol.5, p32

Most major Indian grocers in your city may be able to help you with getting Amrita TV software/hardware bought and installed; else you may contact the MA Center. Jai Ma! Amrita TV is one of many channels offered by the satellite TV distributor called GlobeCast. The way you get Amrita TV is to call GlobeCast (globecastworldtv.com is the web address I believe) and request Amrita TV. They will send you a satellite dish, for which you pay about $170. It is NOT the same dish as DirectTV etc. After you get the dish installed for about $150-$200 (or install it yourself) you can start watching Amrita TV. The price I pay for Amrita TV itself is $10 per month. Those who already have the GlobeCast TV satellite would of course only pay the $10 per month and not the cost of a new satellite dish. Another set of Malayalam channels called Asianet, Asianet News etc. may be packaged along with Amrita TV now; I am not sure. In that case the price is different from $10.00 per month. [We also get some other foreign language channels (Farsi etc.) for free that I don't watch.] Nandu
