....In a documentary slated to begin airing on Monday on BBC TV,

Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmed Qureia and Foreign Minister Nabil

Shaath described the first meeting they had with with Bush in June

2003.

"President Bush said to all of us: 'I'm driven with a mission from

God. God would tell me, "George, go and fight those terrorists in

Afghanistan." And I did, and then God would tell me, "George, go and

end the tyranny in Iraq." And I did. And now, again, I feel God's

words coming to me, "Go get the Palestinians their state and get the

Israelis their security, and get peace in the Middle East." And by

God I'm gonna do it,'" Shaath told the BBC...

Dear Eric ~ I know this is a bit political, but I am very glad you

posted it. I believe it is important for us to know how the people

who lead us are thinking. This scares me to death. It seems sort of a

reversal of what we 60's flower children felt; he is saying that he

is being told to "make war, not love." I am so very grateful that, in

Amma, and in the example of many other great saints and sages, we

have the example of how to serve the word with love only. It is true,

after all, I believe, "Love is all we need." (Ah, I'm showing

my age ... but I just bought that Donovan CD that someone on the

digest mentioned awhile back, and I love it.) And as Aikya said in

her paper about Amma (paraphrase), Amma leads in a completely non-

hierarchal way. And She leads with Love. Jai Jai Ma ~ Linda P.S.

~~~~~~~ my reply :
Much of the problem here is that the Christians consider the Bible
infallible.
My take on this from Amma's teachings, my own heart-opening
experience and "The Mystic Christ" by Ethan Walker is this, :
God is Love.
Love is our true nature.
Ego is our false nature.
Ego lies, hides our true nature and enjoys suffering and war.
Even though Jesus refuted much of the Old Testament especially all
the laws that said "stone the offenders for working on Sunday, for
disrespect to parents, for adultery, etc." Obviously, these laws are
all in conflict with the one great law "Thou shalt not kill
anything."
Also, in the Old Testament there are stories that say God said wage
war on such a tribe and kill everyone, take the land and prosper. It
should be obvious to all those on the side of Love that these war-
stories and stoning-laws came from man's egoic-mind and not from
God's Heart. Jesus, obviously refutes the infallibility of the bible
with His "Love your enemies."
Please be very careful how you use the above. Stay away from politics
and from religion.
Pray for God to open everyone's heart. Obviously this is what Amma is
doing as much She can.
And, perhaps someone close to Amma or Dayamrita can ask for guidance
on this.
Love God not War,
amarnath
