Guest guest
Kali emerges out of Durga. In some places in India, Kali is worshipped for the first three days, starting with Amavasya. - Kenna Ammachi Tuesday, October 04, 2005 10:01 AM Navaratri > Namah Shivaya. > > Some of the Indian devotees here celebrate Navaratri as > 3 days of Lakshmi, 3 days of Saraswati, 3 days of Durga. > Could someone explain this? > Also, why isn¹t Kali celebrated? > I noticed the Kali mantra is being chanting throughout at Amma¹s Fairfield > Center. > > Jai Maa in all Her Forms. > premarupa > > > > Aum Amriteswarayai Namaha! a.. Guest guest
1st 3 days - Kali (probably corresponds to the Mahakali carita of the Durga Saptashati a.k.a Chandi) Next 3 days - Lakshmi (probably corresponds to the Mahalakshmi carita of the Durga Saptashati) Next 3 days - Saraswati (probably corresponds to the MahaSaraswati carita of the Durga Saptashati) 10th day! - Vijayadashmi - the most auspicious day - Durga! In Kerala, for the last 4 days (Saraswati + Durga), important books are kept at the feet of Devi in the altar room. Devis blessings are invoked to destroy all obstacles and then from the 11th day on, the books are persued. This is very true for school-going children. Jai Ma! Guest guest
Namah Shivayah Kenna-ji I believe that this varies from region to region throughout India. I believe that in Bengal, Durga is worshipped each day. I also believe that this time is for worship of Devi in every form. Jai Ma Erica.
