Guest guest
Dear Amma Children: Sorry I am having a bad hair day today. Here is the full quote by Amma in the Kerala newspaper article. ''In politics there is a duality because one has to support one against another. I believe in oneness. Besides, when you join politics, you can't do service in a selfless and just manner'', says the Malayalam-speaking spiritual lady, assisted by her disciple-translator Swami Amritaswarupnanda, who is vice-president of the monastery. Elaborating, she says if the government gets Rs 1000 for a social cause, the beneficiaries at the lowest rung will not get more than Rs 10 out of it. ''But if my ashram gets even Rs 10, it is certain that the entire amount would go to the beneficiaries'', she says, the gentle smile never leaving her face.": I apologize for not putting the quote together. Amma appears to be linking politics with Government. This is the context and I should not have placed Her comment on politics in isolation. Please accept the above quote in apparent full context. I say apparent because newspapers can easily put any quote out of context. Whew! GeorgeSon for Good Click here to donate to the Hurricane Katrina relief effort.
