Dear Rick ~ this is certainly a new angle on the old "the dog ate my homework." Actually, this happened to me once, with an art project, the day before I was supposed to turn it in. Do you think the teacher believed me. LOL Perhaps the dog had some karma that needed to be burned. Rudraksha beads are all so different. They have a certain number of facets, according to the bead, and this all is meaningful. So, unless you can find beads with the same number of facets, I think perhaps you just wrap the mala in a pretty cloth and tuck it somewhere on your altar or behind a picture of Amma. If there is an Indian store near you, you might be able to find comparable beads and have it repaired. Jai Ma ~ Linda P.S. I will be sure to keep my mala away from my two dogs and two kitties. Guest guest
My labrador retriever also ingested part of my last mala. This discussion is giving me more hope for his spiritual progress! When I brought his picture to Amma, to ask a question about him, Amma's attendent said, "Amma blessed your dog." He lets me put sacred ash & holy water on him, he's heard plenty of chanting & likes to hang around when I'm meditating. So, I've began praying for his liberation. Guest guest
My animals all love to sit by me while I meditate. IF they are outside the room, they paw at the door to get in. Once in they are content to sit close by and often close their eyes (ok they do this a LOT anyway! I think a cat sleeps 18 hrs a day or something like that). I have 3 cats and a dog. I have heard at one time you shouldn't let animals sit by you when you meditate as they take your "energy" or something like that. But I decided it was fine. I love having them around. Guest guest
Love it! I once had a mala break, and had the loose beads on a nightstand temporarily. I was thinking I would get the mala repaired later, but my dog/canine soul mate ate a few of those beads! I took it as a sign that it was time for a new mala. Now, all these years later, I smile at the realization that my dog friend must have received a real blessing from her mala bead snack. :-) --- Sweta Mitzel <swetabc wrote: > My labrador retriever also ingested part of my last > mala. Guest guest
We've had lots of pets who have heard a lot of chanting and received lots of vibhutti. The dog was rolling around this morning before we got up and turned the LS on, on the boombox. Guess he decided we needed to hear it. About dreams, on Thursday morning I dreamed that a friend of mine, who is now in Amritapuri, said that there was going to be chanting all day atr the MA Center that day. I woke up and told my husband this, then went to the computer to see Bala's posting about Archana all day at the MA Center. Hmm.. Gotta admit that Rita was on my mind. Jai Ma! Guest guest
I had a wonderful cockatiel about ten years ago. If he was out of his cage when I meditated, he would fly over, perch on my knee and close his little eyes. He also laughed when I laughed at something funny, even if it was night time and his cage was covered. Also when I had a canary in the early 1980's, that bird would wake up and sing when I did puja, even if it was dark and his cage was covered. I remember one MahaShivaratri; it was remarkable. All night long, every three hours when the puja was being done, he would wake up and sing. Aikya Ammachi, "Adriane" <a1driane@s...> wrote: > My animals all love to sit by me while I meditate.
