Guest guest
enjoy ~ Knowledge, Devotion, Action: Devotion without awareness of the Goal cannot lead us to Liberation. It can only be another cause of bondage to man. The jasmine creeper doesn't grow upwards; it only branches out sideways by binding onto other trees. - Ammachi, For My Children, p50 (0515) "This is a strong vasana in many people, to think that they are doing the 'right thing' when really all they want to do is satisfy their usual desires." - Ammachi, Awaken Children, Vol.4, p6 (0011) "If it is spiritual progress that you children want, then what is needed is to take refuge in God with a pure heart without blaming God or indulging in unnecessary disputes." - Ammachi, Awaken Children, Vol. 1 p24 (0740) "Children, unload the burden from your head. That is when you will become liberated. It is not enough to simply turn it over. It should be surrendered to God. Then happily continue doing what He makes you do." - Ammachi, Awaken Children, Vol. 1 p67 (0782) "The 'I' ceases to exist when the mind attains perfect concentration. The feelings of 'I' and 'mine' are due to the ego. The ego is nothing but identification with the body and mind. The mind is thoughts. When thoughts are present we remain a little ego. There is no spontaneous expression. Everything is filtered through the ego." - Ammachi, Awaken Children, Vol.4, p10 (0020) "Nothing can exist without Brahman, the Absolute. Brahman is totally independent; whereas, the world depends on Brahman for its existence. Brahman alone is. Therefore, in the One, the Whole, all comparisons and contrasts of opposites cease to exist. What we are speaking of is far beyond human comprehension. We cannot say anything about it, for it transcends everything. There is an apparent contradiction, [that ignorance or the world is the opposite of the Supreme State] but that contradiction is in your head. Drop the reasoning, and you will see that there is no contradiction at all." - Ammachi, Awaken Children, Vol.4 p205 (0191) "A constant remembrance of God means a constant forgetting of the world and its objects. A single-pointed remembering increases the gap between two thoughts. We daydream a lot, thinking and brooding about different things, people, places, and so forth. The world exists in us as thoughts and ideas. The world is thought. The biggest impediment to remembering God is thought - our constant thinking and daydreaming, our habit of always trying figure things out." - Ammachi, Awaken Children, Vol.5, p65 (0382) "Through created circumstances, he [the Guru] first attracts and binds the disciple with his person. Once the Guru is fully aware that the disciple is totally attached to him, the next step is elimination of the ego. For that to happen, the Guru again creates situations, working with both the gross and the subtle ego. Once the ego is removed, your inside becomes empty. All the old stuff has been removed, and you can now fill yourself with love. The removal of the old and the filling with the new happens simultaneously." - Ammachi, Awaken Children, Vol.4, p64 (0075) "Prayer is surrendering the ego. From deep within you are trying to reach out. You are trying to become expansive. You tell the Lord, `O Lord, I have no power. I thought I had, but now I understand that I am helpless. I am in the dark. I cannot see. I am nothing... Guide me, lead me, help me. That was my ego which made me think I was something great. Now I realize that I am helpless. Without Your grace I cannot be anything...' What is this? This is exposing yourself as a totally helpless creature without Him and His Grace. This is humbling yourself. This is the genuine way to exhaust the vasanas. There should be the awareness of helplessness; one should feel one's helplessness. Helplessness will make one humble. Humility in turn will help one get God's grace as well as human love." - Ammachi, Awaken Children, Vol.5, p30 (0362)
