O mind, why do you think?

O mind, why do you think?

Have you ever thought about it?

Why are you so hungry for a continuous stream of thoughts?

Without a break.

Are you not tired yet from continuous thinking?

Continuous striving, competing, winning, loosing, worrying,

regretting yesterdays, planning tomorrows,

deceiving oneself with momentary pleasures

in a continuous sea of confusion, illusion,

trying to understand, trying to control.

Is it not obvious that you are an utter failure?

That you are not in charge.

Perhaps, there has been a mistake.

Perhaps, you have taken on a burden not your own?

Is not the infinitely complex universe

running smoothly on its own when you do not meddle?

O mind, even Einstein said you were meant to serve

not to be the master.

O mind, are you not suffering greatly yourself,

making many blunders

you make the body suffer also.

Why not be honest?

Why deceive yourself?

O mind, consider resting for a while.

Consider your "stuck in the head" situation.

Is this your real home?

If it were, you would be happy.

O mind, consider stopping thinking for a while.

O mind, consider going home.

Try floating gently down to your heart.

Do you not remember moments of real happiness, joy, freedom?

This always was the case when you rested in the heart,

even for a moment ~ perhaps, in childhood.

Remember?

Why not rest longer and longer in the heart?

I know ~ you are afraid of death.

Yes, the longer you rest in the heart,

more and more thoughts will die.

A day will come when no thought waves will arise

from the ocean of the silent heart

A day of stillness and calm

of unfathomable silence and peace.

But, there is nothing to fear.

This is your home which is free of all fears.

And, the waves will rise again.

Not in striving and disappointment.

Not in fear, confusion, sorrow and pain.

The ocean will bring forth new waves

of peace and contentment

of joy and happiness

of divine strength and wisdom

of divine love and light

O mind, surrender and be happy

Be a humble instrument in the hands of God

Be Love

Be Compassion
