Guest guest
I just saw Julia Roberts, the actress, at the Astrodome in Houston. She was wearing a shirt with an OM on it. No makeup or hairstyle. Very down to earth. Just listening to people and giving out lots of sweet hugs. She spoke of the importance of hugs and that we are all One Family. Guest guest
I made some jewelry for her once ( I am a designer) and she sent me a really beautiful hand-written thank you card. She's the only celebrity I've worked for who's done that. Plus she has that beautiful smile, like Ma. --- Devi's Daughter <devi.daughter wrote: > i just love that woman! > > Ardis Jackson wrote: > > >I just saw Julia Roberts, the actress, at the > Astrodome in Houston. > >She was wearing a shirt with an OM on it. Guest guest
Try watching: In the Wild: Orangutans with Julia Roberts (1998) She showed so much love for the animals. It is so inspiring. Attempts have been made to get Amma on Oprah's show, but apparently, she doesn't have guests who need a translator.

Also, Would probably be too "religious" for her show....Amma may be seen as a spokeswomen for Hinduism or a "religion", which believe it or not, may be too controversial for her show....Deepak Chopra is safe because he is a new age marketing image type guy, not a group leader per say
Guest guest
If it's true...that's sad that she'd miss out on being able to meet Amma and help spread some Divine love over the airways, just because Amma doesn't speak English! I suppose I can see how a non-English speaker might seem less accessible...but what a loss! Oprah has interviewed other religious figures, such as Archbishop Desmond Tutu and the Dalai Lama, so I don't know if it's about being "too religious." Honestly, I've wondered why, with all the coverage she's gotten and interviews on various morning shows, she's never ended up on Oprah...and I couldn't help but speculate as to whether it strikes as too cultish. I mean, although Amma's portrayed in the Western media as the "hugging saint," it's the truth that most of us here relate to her as WAY more than "just" some saint! Anyway, I'm not an Oprah fan, but it has seemed odd that Amma hasn't gotten on, especially given the Gandhi-King award and addressing women leaders at the UN.
