Guest guest
Namah Shivaya, >From someone in my busines wanting to help. Needs lodging for clinicians. Thought I'd pass it along. Adriane I received the following note from Dr. Rick Miller, a friend of mine who's a professional counselor in Olympia (he owns Cross Counseling ... his wife, LouAnn, owns the Cup of Cold Water used Christian bookstore). Dr. Miller's specialty is crisis and trauma counseling, and he's often called away to various points around the USA when there's a disaster of some sort. He spent several weeks in New York right after 9-11, for example. Anyway, I don't personally know anyone who could help him find lodging in the New Orleans area, but thought perhaps someone on the discussion group might have connections. (Dr. Miller's complete note is below.) ~Debi Hough ---begin forwarded message--- To ALL: THIS IS AN ALL POINTS REQUEST OF EVERYONE I KNOW!!! I am working with the Crisis Care Network (CCN) in Michigan which is an organization that sends specialized clinicians to areas that experience trauma, such as New York City. I was their Clinical Director for part of that time that we had over 200 clinicians help out the traumatized people there in New York. What we are attempting to do is get clinicians, at the request of many businesses and government agencies there in New Orleans and the surrounding areas that were devastated by Hurricane Katrina. The challenge is that there is no lodging available due to the media and other help already there, such as insurance claims folks or that the lodging places are damaged beyond usability. If ANY of you know or have connections with people or churches in the surrounding area of New Orleans, and more specifically Houma, LA that would be willing to put me up for as long as I'm there (2 wks or more) or until I can find a hotel room, I would be ever so grateful. Then I would be able to go to work even this Wednesday! The CCN is also looking for lodging for more clinicians as things progress. Right now they have some clinicians who are staying in tents and wearing waders to accomplish their work, like with those who are going house-to-house to search for victims. Please let me know just as soon as possible. I will be going on another Crisis job early Tuesday morning and will not be available on the phone from 8am to 10am, but anytime before that or after would be fine. My CELL phone is 360-791-4214. My office phone is 360-438-1772 or Toll-Free 1-877-438-1772. Thanks so much for any help so that we can get more emergency psychological first-aid to these people. ....Dr. Rick Miller -- a..
