Your cheerleading for adharmic teachings have other venues that would receive it with open arms. Can we maintain a dharmic room? Dear ckeniley ~ in reading "On the Road to Freedom, A Pilgrimage in India," by Swami Paramatmananda, there were several places where Swami P. (then Neale) talked about his guru's (Ramana Marhishi) guru, Ratnamji, going to a gathering of Great Souls or scholars (usually for some particular reason, like a seasonal ritual), and they would often spend some time talking and debating with one another. I realize that we don't want to have undue discord here. On the other hand, do we really want to silence someone? I have heard from people, and experienced, that when people gather around Amma, it is like being in a washing machine, and their "stuff," their leelas come out. Sometimes this can be very unpleasant, but it seems to be part of the process of growing spiritually. After Ratnamji's death, Neale became very confused for he missed the Presence of Ratnamji. He did not know whether to follow the road of bhakti or of self-inquiry. Here is what Swami P. had to say of the (temporary) resolution of his dilemma (this was after several visions of a deceased Realized sage, Shankaracharya of Kanchipuram): "From the next day, I...found that Self-inquiry came about very easily and so I started to take up that practice with all seriousness. It dawned on me what he had meant by 'the mind alone is important.' It is not which spiritual practice you do that is important but rather the purity of mind which is gained thereby...The practices are only means to an end." Of course, Neale had not yet met Amma, so I would take this statement with a grain of salt. Jai Ma, Linda
