Guest guest
copied and pasted from: http://www.ammachi.org/humanitarian-activities/get -involved/Katrina/Work-in-progress.html Work in Progress San Ramon September 5, 2005 Our Arkansas center was one among the first to swing into action helping hundreds of victims from Louisiana since the tragedy on August 29. The Dallas satsang (& affiliate center) has donated a truck load of food and clothing to the hurricane survivors. A team of qualified Californians from M. A. Center that directly helped in tsunami relief work in India are leaving for Houston on Sep. 9 to help with the local relief efforts in Houston. For those that would like to offer their services, we plan to match your expertise with a relief site as we organize the needs of the shelters in Houston and Arkansas in the next several weeks. We will also try our best to find a donor for your travel ticket fare. Please e-mail to: Gopal Ayyar (gopal2401) with your name, contact information, how long/when you could potentially travel to Houston, and how you can help if you would like to offer services rather than funds. Everything is helpful. We will only request help from those whose stated abilities match what the shelters are asking us to provide, so not everyone may be needed to go. Donations for food, clothing and medical supplies will be needed. The exact requirements will be posted soon. We are grateful to a very generous volunteer who has offered to match all monetary donations upto $500. So this matching donation can double your contribution. To donate, please If you would like to contribute for volunteer travel expenditure, please contact Dr. Asha Pillai (ammasshree) --- ===========================================================
