Guest guest
Namah Shivaya!!! I have wept tears of joy today to hear from my friend and business associate, Tara! SHE IS SAFE AND HER FAMILY IS, TOO! She and 2 others in my business are ok. We await word on another-Brandy Warning. We pray she and her children are safe. Tara called today and sent this letter. I thought everyone would want to read about the crisis first hand. They rode out the storm in her home-about 50 miles from the coast-a little further out than the 20 I initially thought. Big oaks were ripped from the ground in their yard. They had to cut a tree in the driveway to get their car out. Walmart only allows 20 in the store at at time so it's a 2 hr wait. They just got their electric today. They got a generator and moved it from tv, to freezer to whatever was needed. They used a camping lantern and solar lights from landscaping for the last week. - Tara Rouse Adriane Bradley Monday, September 05, 2005 10:45 AM I'M STILL HERE! Hi Adriane, Thank you so much for caring. We have been without power and phones for a week. I am very blessed to still have my life, family and home after the hurricane. Our county looks horrible with trees down everywhere. Porches and sheds ripped apart. I have seen lots of homes destroyed, especially mobile homes. We got off easy compared to the coast. I was able to see some footage on the news occasionally while the generator was running. I am still in shock at the devastation on the coast. This is a place we visited often. Everything is gone! Gas and ice have been precious items around here. Different family members would take turns going on "gas runs". They would have to travel either to North Alabama or Florida to get gas. When a gas station around here would get gas the wait would be about 2-6 hours. We were using ice to keep our food from spoiling. We were able to buy a generator at Sam's club in Florida to keep our freezer frozen. Some things did thaw, but we ate it as it was thawing. My mother in law has a gas grill with an extra eye on the side that we used to cook on. I had 28 people that stayed in my home during the hurricane. All of which were in-laws! They were great though. After the worst of the storm had passed on Monday evening, several of the men left out to see the damage. The roads were impassable. Keith has an old 4 wheel drive truck he uses for hunting that he was able to drive through ditches and around and over trees. The power lines were all over the road and wrapped around trees. I lost a few shingles off my house. We have a lot of trees down in the yard. It is a mess. My mother has a hole in her roof and lots of water damage. Keith's aunt (one of those that stayed with us) had 2 trees fall on her double wide trailer. Several schools were damaged. Our children may not return to school for another month or two. I have no idea how my Pampered Chef business is going to be after this. I worked so hard to book a full September. One show was suppose to be on September 1. No one has any money. I am not sure anyone will keep their show. Thank you so much for offering your home to me. I wanted to cry when I read that. We are recovering rather fast here. It is the coast that needs help. I am not sure of the best way to help. We can't go down there to help. No one is being allowed in. I think food is the biggest need and baby items. Our church collected money to send to a nursing home in need. So sorry I could not contact you earlier to let you know my status. All communication lines were broken, but we are back up today. It was so nice to sleep under air conditioning last night!!! Thanks again for caring, Tara ---------- -- Internal Virus Database is out-of-date.
