Dear Sister,

I agree with many of your points. It enraged me that Bush's main

concern was to get troops down to New Orleans to "shoot to kill" the

looters. I saw on the news tonight that the National Guard is actually

housed in a Wal-Mart and surviving on food they take from the store

(looting?). I also saw an interview with a FEMA truck driver who said

that he was loaded and ready to bring a truck full of fresh water four

days ago and was not allowed to leave for New Orleans until today. It

is easy to see conspiracy and to wonder if the Bush adminstration

actually wanted to kill off the poor and disabled citizens of New

Orleans.

But when I relax and chant and meditate, I am reminded of the existence

of a Divine Plan. I know that Amma has the whole world in Her Hands.

The only answer I can come up with is that things are getting darker so

that the Light can shine. Try to keep the faith, my dear One.

Remember in the Bhagavad Gita how Krishna explains to Arjuna that there

is no birth and there is no death. The Immortal Soul is

indestructible.

But I pray for my sisters and brothers who are experiencing this

disaster first hand. I feel their pain and confusion. I pray that

Mother will hold them close to her bosom and make them safe.

Dear Ananthasree,

Om Namah Shivaya,

You are not alone, as I also feel deeply saddened,

frustrated & angry. It's brought me to tears.

Today I felt it intensly, & the Universe surprised me

by dropping unexpected kindnesses throughout the day.

It began when I tripped & fell in a parking lot, where

a total strnager offered kind words of concern, as he

helped me to gather up what I had dropped. After

that, strangers seemed unusually kind. It was really

encouraging.

Amma tells a story of how someone gave just a simple

smile, which created a domino affect, that ended in

something truely great. Who said, "It all begins &

ends with you?" Amma says something like don't worry

about the darkness, just light your one small light &

go forward. (Very paraphrased.) This is the Kali

Yuga, so thank God Amma is here, igniting Her flame in

so many hearts.

Maybe we're grieving a loss, since we wanted to

believe that our government's response would've been

more compassionate & caring. Attitude seems to be

almost everything, so positive affirmations would help

us. I believe it's important to feel grateful for

absolutely everything. Even what we might not like.

To see everything as prasad. It's all God. This

grateful attitude releases God's power. We can't give

what we don't have, so we don't have much to give

while dwelling on what's lacking in others. I believe

that society will change, one person at a time. As we

change within our own selves, others will also be

positively affected.

(This is totally paaphrased.) Once Swami Dayamrita

talked about how he asked Amma about the world's

problems & suffering. Amma said something like,

there's no problem with the world, it's with you.

Maybe She was referring to the importance of attitude.

Here are some quotes:

"Be like the honeybee who gathers only nectar wherever

it goes. Seek the goodness that is found in

everyone."

"My child, never lose faith in God or life. It is

very important to be optimistic. Pessimism is a form

of darkness that prevents the Divine Light from

permeating your life. It is an illusory curse created

by an illusory mind. Only if you are optimistic will

you be able to perceive that life is replete with

Divine Light."

"We tend to look for flaws & errors in others, & this

disturbs our minds. We must change this habit.

Forget their shortcomings, look for their good

qualities & be respectful. Seeing only what is good

in people eliminates suffering."

"Do not be angry. Always rejoice in God."

"Dwelling on another's faults weakens the mind. When

we chose to see another's goodness, we rise to a

higher level. In calling another human bing bad, we

too turn bad. Even in someone who is 99% bad, see

the 1% that is good - and you will become good."

Another posint is that broadcasting agencies don't

sell so much news with stories of kindness, but with

sensationalism about what's wrong in the world.

Didn't Amma tell someone to stop watching the news,

for their spiritual growth? We would probably all

help ourselves & the world by turning off the news for

awhile, & devoting that time to more uplifting

bhajans, chants & meditations. There is something to

be said for being bit of a hermit, in a calm &

beautiful environment. I did move to the mountains :)

Not to stir you all up any more, but do you realize that after the hurricane

Bush flew from Texas to California for some sort of dinner with his rich

buddies, then back to Texas, then to DC, flying low over the devastated

areas. THEN THE NEXT DAY HE PLAYED GOLF!!!! Then the following day flew down

to New Orleans.

Bush seems to have an emergency plan for kosovo & kabul, but not for its own

state, which is 26 percent of the nation's natural gas supply and crude oil, and

60 percent of grain exports.

there has been several cases of emergency supplies not reaching ppl, bcoz armed

mens holding the aid workers. hospitals with 11 doctors working with 2 flash

lights, ppl dying in a stadium & no one knows what to do with them..... i've had

to remind myself many a times that, this is America, the most powerful nation on

earth, and ppl, the american ppl, the most empowered, cilivised anywhere.

2 days back, i wrote to FEMA (i know a few there, as part of my work as an hse

specialist) asking them if "they're job really is emergency managemnent" and

they'd better be called as "federal enterainment & malfunction agency". for 3

dayas after the storm, they still dint have a clue as to what exactly has to be

done where the mississippi, the aorta of the American economy runs!!

the administration and its agencies has failed its ppl in the moment they needed

their elected reps the most.

In God we trust. so, lets pray to Her. And do something more constructive than

what, the first person of the country is showing his people.

most of the agencies on ground are overworked & understaffed. but, whoever is

doing it, is doing a great job. does anyone know any person or agency who are

capable of search & rescue? if yes, please mail me their contact info.

Om Namah Shivaya,

Regarding search & rescue, I read that Russia had

offered underwater rescue specialists, but that the

U.S. declined that help, along with offers from other

nations. What's up with that?

I also heard a report that a FEMA truck was loaded

with water, about 5 days ago, but that the driver

wasn't allowed to go to New Orleans. Isn't it just

common sense to have food & wateravailable in advance

for any group of people? WOuldn't any other event at

the stadium in New Orleans have offered that (to it's

paying customers? :(

And, doesn't New Orleans have the highest % of people

living in poverty of any U.S. city? In addition, the

highest % of non-drvers?

It sounds like either a huge lack of competancy,

negligance & uncaring, or an outright conspriacy.

The news said that some "refuges" will probably be

bussed north of the Twin Cities in Minnesota (MN).

Having lived in MN 2x, this bothers me greatly,

because especially north of Minneapolis, prejudice

runs rampant. I wish that we could bring that group

to California.

I'm hoping that COL letters will be offered to any

people that the MA Center may aid. At least that

would be just a little something we could do to try to

help.

Praying,

I am also "thinking" that a conspiracy is afoot. How disgusting.

I think those responsible will be much more in need of Divine Mercy

than those affected by their acts.
