Dear GeorgeSon ~ A feminist writer once said, "the personal is the political." (I'm sorry I can't recall her name at present.) I think some of us are worrying a bit too much about sounding "political." Eco-harmony is both a personal and a political issue. We may all recycle, ride bikes, use less energy in our homes, etc., but the governments of the world must also respond, and as you indicated, ours is going backwards. Bhu Devi is shaking off the fleas. She is Mother Kali showing us the effects of our actions. But still ... one person at a time, person by person ... change can come. In 1985, a woman named Justine Merritt completed a project she had been encouraging at the grassroots level for years. This was to help bring an end to all war and to make a statement about the existence of nuclear weapons. People all over the country, all ages, even children took fabric squares (all the same size), and created, with art, with words, in anyway they could, their vision of a peaceful world. These squares then had fabric "frames" put around them, and at the top of each, on both sides, ribbons were attached. The idea was to surround the reflecting pool in Washington, DC, by bringing all the ribbons and tying them together. There were so many ribbons, that they ended up starting at the Pentagon, going from there and around the reflecting pool, and still they were unable to use all the ribbon pictures. I was there that day. It was one of the most amazing demonstrations of peaceful commentary I have ever seen. I even had the joy of getting on the stage and singing my "Little Bit of Sunshine" song. Now many of the ribbons are in museums, but they had an effect. Think about what happened in Kerala after the tsunami hit ... it was Amma and all her bramacharis and bramacharinis and devotees (in essence, regular folks) who upheld the massive relief effort that Amma began and that is still going on. Sometimes it just takes one person with a vision, joining hands with others who share that vision, to create change. And you are very right, the prajna must be balanced.
