Does it make sense to make a group collection or something? I was talking to a woman in the vets office today and she said that a co-worker and her husband were giving up things (she her Starbucks coffee, he his football something) to give money to the Red Cross. I was quite touched by that gesture.Any ideas? Dear Prasadini ~ this situation is heartbreaking, and I am hearing it will only get worse. The ideas you mention above are very good ones. Those who can afford to can donate money to a reputable organization like the Red Cross. I believe that Aikya posted a long list of organizations that could be given contributions. I would suggest before donating, make sure that the organization is indeed going to be helping this situation, and if writing a check, be sure to earmark the funds for Katrina Relief. After the tsunami, I only donated money to the M.A. Center and participated in their online auction because I felt that sending the money to Amma was the most trustworthy way of knowing it would be used to help tsunami victims. But we have no Amma, except in the prayer sense, in this situation, so if we want to give, me must put some faith in our charitable organization. This link will take you to an Amazon.com page devoted to Red Cross Katrina Relief efforts where you can donate immediately: _http://s1.amazon.com/paypage/PELYGQVJ8Q7IB/002-6416005-4272061_ (http://s1.amazon.com/paypage/PELYGQVJ8Q7IB/002-6416005-4272061) Here is the direct link to the Red Cross: _http://www.redcross.org/_ (http://www.redcross.org/) I have heard people say no amount of money is too little; so even if each of us only gave $5.00, imagine how much that would be. There are at least 700 people on this digest, and new people seem to be joining almost every day. That would be $3500! It would be a start. Jai Ma ~ Linda "Love and beauty are within you.
