Poverty and the hurricane (was: New Orleans rescue worker's story)

Amma says poverty is at the root of all our human problems.

(Another way to say it, is greed is at the root of all our problems.)

Amma herself has had to contend with economic and political realities

in Her efforts to provide relief to the tsunami survivors.

I have been troubled for a long time that the majority of Amma¹s devotees in

the NA

are relatively privileged. Here at last is our chance to follow our Divine

Mother¹s example and follow Her into

the waters of compassionate service where others will not go.

Yes, She will guide us.

Sounds like the Hot Springs Ashram, has once again already sprung into

action, as it did after the Tsunami. Amma has told Swamiji to go there and

soon we¹ll learn more that we can do.

Meanwhile, let¹s join in the prayers as Swamiji has directed.
