Guest guest
Dearest sisters and brothers, The tragedy and devastation of hurricane Katrina increases with each passing day. I just read this AP report: NEW ORLEANS - Fights and trash fires broke out at the hot and stinking Superdome and anger and unrest mounted across New Orleans on Thursday, as National Guardsmen in armored vehicles poured in to help restore order across the increasingly lawless and desperate city. "We are out here like pure animals. We don't have help," the Rev. Issac Clark, 68, said outside the New Orleans Convention Center, where corpses lay in the open and evacuees complained that they were dropped off and given nothing. Please join me in saying extra prayers for peace today.*** Amma says that when we pray together, the effect of the prayer is magnified.*** Let us chant "Lokaha" once at the beginning of each hour, silently or aloud, wherever we are today. Also, let's chant "Lokaha" for ten minutes tonight, beginning at 7pm Central Standard Time. I’ll close by sharing two very powerful and relevant quotes, the first being the “thought of the moment” on the amritapuri.org website. "Today, the need for prayer and spiritual practices is greater than ever before." —Amma PRAYER IS NOT AN OLD WOMAN'S IDLE AMUSEMENT. PROPERLY UNDERSTOOD AND APPLIED, IT IS THE MOST POTENT INSTRUMENT OF ACTION. ---Mahatma Gandhi Thank you for your willingness to help in this way. I love and treasure you all -- Amala LOKAHA SAMASTAHA SUKHINO BHAVANTU LOKAHA SAMASTAHA SUKHINO BHAVANTU LOKAHA SAMASTAHA SUKHINO BHAVANTU OM SHANTI, SHANTI, SHANTI OM SRI GURU BYODH NAMAHA HARI OM May all the beings in all the worlds be peaceful and happy.
