Om Namah Shivaya:

The Mayor of New Orleans believes that thousands may have perished in the Big

Easy (Whew!) alone.

Associated Press reports:

"Hurricane Katrina probably killed thousands of people in New Orleans, the mayor

said Wednesday — an estimate that, if accurate, would make the storm the

nation's deadliest natural disaster since at least the 1906 San Francisco

earthquake."

Dear Brother:

Brother Avram, mentioned that every year has difficulties. I assume you feel

that Amma could predict any year at random and hit the mark. If this is not

your intent please clarify.

Some of us could take offense at the implication that Amma is a charlatan

scaring Her devotees willy nilly.

This sort of sceptism is fine with me. I do not condemn opinions contrary to my

own.

I feel that Hurricane Katrina may be the worst disaster in United States

history. That would make 2005 as infamous as 1906.. The 1906 San Francisco

earthquake involved a mere portion of one isolated U.S. state. The 2005 Gulf

Region "natural disaster" involved three or more ENTIRE states..

Avram, I humbly contend that what happened Monday morning is no longer a matter

of faith. Hurricane Katrina is a measurable scientific fact. It is also clear

that Amma predicted "Dark Clouds for 2005 in 2003. I heard Amma predict 2005

Dark Clouds at the 2003 Rhode Island Retreat.

Please open your mind. The 2005 Gulf Region catastrophe appears to be of

biblical proportions. 2005 will be remembered as ruefully as 1906..

I am convinced that Amma does not scare Her children for mere sport. The

Beloved gave us two years in advance to adjust our sadhana accordingly.

May the Divine Mother have mercy. Peace Peace Peace..

Om Shanti,

GeorgeSon

P.S. Let us show courage. Amma set the example of coolness on the day of the

knife attempt. She is fearless. We can also be fearless. I am praying for

courage because I lack it at this moment.

There seem to be macro-economic implications as well.

Gas in SC (traditionally the lowest gas prices in the country) are

as as high as $2.90. it's a jump of 30-40 cents in 1 day! Most pumps

seem to be dried up too. waiting for the national reserves.

That is automatically an indicator of a major inflation period. will

it lead to a recession?

anybody's guess.

Hope it all works out well for everybody.

Jai Ma!

Om Namah Shivayah,

I do believe Amma's predictions for this year are coming true. There

are quite a few "dark clouds" happening on our planet right now. More

this year than I have seen in other years, and that is just a fact.

Now, the destruction caused by Katrina, talk of a potential bird flu

epidemic, gas prices going so high it could affect a million different

things, and this horrifying bit of news that just came through...

Reading this story just sent me into tears...all of this tragedy...for

what???

What is going on? Am I the only one who cannot shake this ominous

feeling. I am hoping it is more "Amma-nous"! :)

Let us all pray that this seemingly downward spiral reverses itself. I

do believe, that we can counteract the negative blanket that seems to

be hovering right now.

Clinging to Amma's lotus feet,

Ananthasree

Remember Amma's advice on the Boston retreat this summer? Someone expressed

fear and anxiety over the terrorist events in the world, and the threat of

more. Amma said that we should befriend death - that if we have a welcoming

attitude toward death, we will be afraid of nothing. There was nothing

morbid about her advice. Essentially, she was saying "don't worry; be happy"

- or as Dylan put it, "there are many here among us, who feel that life is

but a joke." Amma demonstrated this recently with the stabbing attempt. She

displayed no fear. She remained her usual blissful self. I think that in

Boston she was advising us all to do the same. Remember Krishna on the

battlefield? Everyone was getting killed, and he retained a blissful smile

on his face. Not because he was oblivious to what was going on, but because

he alone really saw what was going on.
