Guest guest
thank you for the heads up on this article it is beautiful. if i was a bird i would also be tapping on Amma's window to get her attention. the one sentence of the story that really stuck out to me was; "The divine spark at the heart of the hummingbird is the same as the one inside each of us, as it is the same as the one inside Amma." She is me. i pray that no matter what i can always remember this. Guest guest
dear brother Eric, while going thru ur mail, i was reminded of an incident that occurred during Devi Bhava at Amritapuri, around 3 years back. It was a sunday evening & Devi Bhava darshan was underway. among several kids that approach Amma, a simple looking kid came near Amma for darshan. seeing him, tears filled Amma's eyes. Amma later related why She was touched by the little kid. this boy stays an hour's drive from Amritapuri. on that day, out of the thrill of going to Amritpuri, he was running out of his home, when he suddenly stopped half way, returned back & picked up something from the ground. it was a little ant he had accidentally stepped on. out of remorse & sheer compassion, he picked it up & went his way. on the way to Amritapuri, his family stopped at a relative's place, where he was offered his favorite food items. he did not have any of it, as he felt he might loose the ant in his hand. after reaching Amritapuri, he went straight to the Kalari, where he took some sand placed it on the ant, then he prayed to Amma to save the ant, & grant it liberation!! then he left the body of the ant on earth, covering it with some sand. later when he went up to Amma, She could not hold back Her tears seeing the boy. Amma gave him a long tight hug & a deep loving glance. we were struck by his awareness to observe the pain of an ant on the ground, that made him come back & pick it up, even though he was totally engrossed in the thought of meeting Amma!! Maybe, his innocent heart-felt prayer would have delivered the humble ant beyond the cycle of samsara... there's saying in the Upanishads.. "Eashavasya Midam Sarvam", roughly translated as "the divine consciousness pervades all". on that sunday evening, we woke up to the query as to how many of us live by this principle? at Her Lotus Feet, Her child : ) - ecjensen_us Ammachi Wednesday, August 31, 2005 7:33 AM Re: For Eric ji -- AMMA and Her Winged Friends! -Erica thank you for the heads up on this article it is beautiful. if i was a bird i would also be tapping on Amma's window to get her attention. the one sentence of the story that really stuck out to me was; "The divine spark at the heart of the hummingbird is the same as the one inside each of us, as it is the same as the one inside Amma."
