I was at a kirtan session once that also used the InFocus with a

laptop to display the lyrics to the bhajans. It was great!

....I'm sure that one of Amma's (many, I am sure!)

geeky programmer devotees could make a database that is easily

searchable, expandable, and efficient with processor and hard drive

time/space...

I know that I, for one, would most likely purchase the database to

use on my laptop at home, and probably the 'expansions' (bhajan

supplements) each year, so I could take them home. This is, of

course, if I knew that I would see the lyrics on the InFocus at the

programs.

It is quite cumbersome to carry around so many bhajan books and

supplements. I have never gotten around to purchasing any because of

this fact. It seems so impractical for me to carry them around all

the time at programs etc.

Dear Erica and All ~ I belonged to a group of musicians for a short while

when I lived in Albuquerque. They met each week to sing all kinds of old folk,

folk-rock, rock, etc., songs, and of course play a variety of instruments.

What cacophony! Imagine 30 musicians all singing at the tops of their lungs,

some playing guitars, some playing mandolins, some playing violins.

Someone had scanned the lyrics of all the songs they had collected so far

into some kind of program that could be searched by letter of the alphabet, so

it was very easy to find the songs. Unfortunately, they did not use this

resource at the group sessions, but merely made copies available for everyone so

people could learn the songs. But how much more efficient to have a large

screen to project the lyrics onto.

I still have my copy of this CD and have used it to learn some old "cover"

songs, just in case, one day, like Amma told me, I will be able to sing and

perform again. : ) But I imagine our little satsang here, which is so

resistant to anything but watching movies might be more likely to be interested

in

singing were such a resource available. (I think putting in the chords would

be good too.)

Somebody, PLEASE send this idea to someone who can review it. Jai Jai Ma ~

Linda
