I wouldn't call myself a World War II historian, but I have never heard of that incident. Unless some Luftwaffe bomber pilots got very lost..but the Germans had enough to deal with, fighting the western allies and the Russian front, to bother with an attack on India. I don't even think that there were ever any u-boats patroling that part of the Indian Ocean. Are you sure it wasn't the Japanese?
