In this sense, would not all souls "merge in God" (for however short a time) at death? I don't know; I'm asking. Because then it gets a little troublesome philosophically for me to understand if the drop of water has merged into the sea, does it exist as an individual? I recall reading about a hypnotic regression where the individual was asked to describe her "between lives" experience. She said something to the effect that she was kind of like a little blob hanging with a lot of other little blobs and it was just fine. So perhaps for some souls, "merging in God" is like that; I don't know. Jyotsna ::I think you have a good point. She might be telling a partial truth, as a consolation, and since no one thinks very much, we think she means final liberation, when all she is saying is that the soul merged (for now) with god. I would not put it past her to do this. Avram
