Someone was showing her around a place with rooms, such as a temple, where it sounded as if rituals were being performed. Then the guide showed her a sword, & indicated that that was what the deity really was .. the essence of It. She's not knowledgeable about Hinduism, but says she feels drawn to it & wants to feel the energy at the MA Center. I thought the sword may represent Kali. Any other thoughts about Who the sword may represent? Dear Sweta ~ wow, what an interesting dream. Well, we know that Kali and Durga were both sword wielders, and yet sometimes a symbol is a bit more rarified that what seems to be the surface. I don't claim any knowledge of Hindu symbolism. I wish I did. I have been a student of symbolism all my life, via the greats like Joseph Campbell. One thing I have learned is that there are certain symbols that Jung might call archetypes, and these may often be cross cultural. (Sometimes when I get in my car, there's a light that says "Door is Ajar." and I say, when is a door not a door, when it is a jar. LOL) The sword also represents correct discrimination, the mind, knowledge, thoughts and their products, etc. In this context, even though Saraswati is not associated with the sword, She is associated with all these qualities. On the other hand, Durga/Kali also have an association with the sword as a discriminative tool (in slaying the thoughts). Maybe you can encourage your friend to think about this dream before she goes to sleep sometime, with the intention of meeting up with the guide again and requesting some additional clarification. My experience with guides is that they often "speak" in symbols, not in direct words, so maybe she would get some more symbols that would make the diety clearer. This is wonderful. What an amazing experience for her to have. Jai Ma ~ Linda
