I am not sure if it is consolation or fact." The recent death of the child from Holland at Amritapuri was met with Amma's assurance that the boy had merged with the Absolute. I have seen Amma say this quite a few times in recent years. My monkey mind has flirted with doubting the veracity of Amma's words. However Amma does not say this in every case a death occurs at Her Ashram. Can anyone report Amma NOT saying that Mr X. or Ms. Y had attained freedom from the cycle of birth and death? Please post here or off-line. Does She always say this? Anyone out there remember Her NOT saying someone had attained liberation?. If you selectively analyze you may find that the ones reported to us are high profile deaths that stand distinct from the mainstream. I may be mistaken Avram. The Poet Devotee who wrote the 108 names of Amma was pronounced to have obtained Freedom. But he was reportedly a holy personage who led a long life of Devotion. The Boy from Holland, though young, may have been a very old soul. It is possible that he only needed to come down to this plane for a very short visit. Some contend that we are all "old souls" having exchanged bodies countless times. The recent soul from Holland may have come down to work off a tiny bit of Karma. Once having accomplished this the Divine Mother released him to Merger with God. How can any of us know? My post is designed to explore this and nothing more. Here is where faith is necessary. Amma's life is an open book for us all to see. She never takes even one breath for Herself. Although Amma is a very frequent flyer Amma never spent even one weekend on vacation or as the Brits say Holiday. Does Amma sit at a cafe for even one hour reading a newspaper and sipping an iced tea? Can we find Amma getting Spa treatments? Do any of you believe that this particular living saint enjoys a personal stock portfolio? If one feels that this does not meet Her common day to day lifestyle then I will humbly inquire thus: why should Amma lie?. What does the Holy Mother gain by lying?. Does She need a larger amount of devotees? Is Amma running for the Kerala Parliament? What would be Amma's angle to lie? How would Her mission here be served by lying? There is a well know christian-based expression, "there will be pie in the sky when you die". Agnostics and Rationalists feel that the promise of a glorified after-life keep the duped masses in check. Why should I go through the strict discipline of spiritual life if I do not get something in return? This kind of thinking is not only understandable but in my opinion warranted. However from my personal experience Ammachi allows the majority of Darshan recipients go their merry way. I received a hug in 1995 and did not return for five years. Amma never sent me come back and see me literature. One of my closest friends went for Darshan and has no desire to see Amma again. It seems that the majority who see Her go back to their spiritual paths feeling that seeing Amma was just a nice evening of Shakti transference. Amma does not seem to send out brochures to newbie Darshan visitors please come back again. Once again Avram I totally understand the question. The same thoughts crossed my mind. My mind began to doubt. Oh no another Amma quote that the X Y or Z attained freedom from Samskara. Nevertheless it is felt here that mystics like Amma have nothing to gain by lying. This smashes my personal projection screen containing doubt.. On more quick point, Avram Tens of thousand millions of Her devotees have passed on with nary a comment.
