Guest guest
Mother's leela continues... and I say this as a sister in freak-outs/break-downs/shakti shake-ups that go down around Amma, not as a slur in any way or pejorative sense against so-called "nutcases" ... in an earlier part of the article his family told police he was on medication and loses his balance when he doesn't take it, becoming violent. In this reported statement it sounds like he may have been REACTING to being blocked from approaching Her, rather than attacking per se. Although of course curiousity is raised about the circumstances leading to him being "expelled." And, Nirmal of Boston, can you back me up here (sorry I haven't phoned back)... Isn't it interesting how many of the stories use the term "inmates" to describe ashram residents. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshow/msid-1206815,curpg-1.cms "Pavithran told reporters that he had been a devotee for the past 17 years. "I love Amma more than god and despite several attempts to get Amma's darshan (glimpse) I was unable to do so. I carry a rubber tapper's knife with me because years back I was attacked by a few people and since then I have been carrying it with me," he said. "Yesterday I drew out the knife after I was attacked by people when I moved towards Amma." While Amma chose to make light of the incident, Swami Amritha Swaroopananda, the second in command at her mutt, saw it as a serious one. "We are really concerned about what has happened and we wish the cause of this be investigated," he said. ... with love, prashanti
Guest guest
I assumed that "inmates" was a term used in Indian English, rather than "residents" or the like. Anyone out there know first hand? If he has been a devotee for 17 years, why didn't anyone know him? Mother's leela indeed. And of course the first reports on Amritapuri.org called the poor man a "stranger." But my experience has been that people around Amma are always changing, and all the time I am forgetting intense conversations/connections from previous tours, or faces, or names, etc. with love, prashanti

"inmates" out in India are used to describe residents, not jailed prisoners. there are many such usage differences. common example: "freaked out" is used as "had a blast of a time".
