Bomb-sniffing dogs? Pat-down searches before being allowed to enter the darshan line? I am actually surprised that in this post 9/11 world, they've waited until some nutcase got loose to jack up the security around the darshan hall. And he was only armed with a knife. What's to stop an AK-47-wielding terrorist or suicide bomber? Certainly would have a lot of potential victims. It's not the first time someone has tried to stab Amma. There was also an assassination attempt back in the early Krishna-bhava, pre-world tour days. The sad truth is that if someone wants to kill Her he will. Even Amma says that.I think it is key to note even Amma does not argue that she is invulnerable, that nothing can get her. I think it is quite a statement; anyone can do anything, and if so, then it's God's Will. Avram

The first time Amma came to Fairfield, Iowa, there were three implicit death threats against her, presumably from fanatical TM people. Also, someone entered the main organizer's home when she wasn't home and left a threatening note on her kitchen counter. Amma just shrugged it all off, and said something like, "well, if I'm going to die, this is as good a place as any." Reminiscent of Little Big Man. Anyway, security was beefed up and amounted to some rather intimidating guys like Leonard Sarki and Doo Barnes standing near Amma's couch keeping an eye on things. Guest guest
I was one of those "intimidating guys" and I don't think we did much to intimidate anyone. We just stood close by, just in case... Also I never knew Amma had a "couch".
